I had a conservatory some years ago that had no aircon or heating in it. I had some large church candles in it that actually melted despite muslin curtains at the windows. In the winter it was freezing cold. The only time it was usable was for a couple of weeks either side of summer and winter
Oh and my Cacti thrived in it

We don't close our doors anymore, but when we used to get back from work in the summer, it regularly got into the 50s, once as high as 58. You had to run in, open the outer door and run out as it was unbearable.

My conservatory was the same and pretty much became unuseable, so the previous owners changed the traditional conservatory roof to a pitched tiled roof with a velux window
It still gets unbearably hot and cold in the summer & winter months
You should be careful though as changing the roof to a pitched tiled roof changes the use froma conservatory to an extension and building regs etc were never got for it, but that is sorted now

My mates conservatory is spot on. He has this Argon gas filled reflective glass or something of the sort. He reckons it reflects the sun rays out and the glass is actually as good in the winter as brick walls.
