Renault World Series, Silverstone, June 7th 2008
Thought I'd post a few pics up here, taken yesterday at the Renault World Series which was held at Silverstone, as I saw loads of people wearing Subaru jackets and caps so I guess a few of you may have been there too.
We had a great day down there and saw some great racing, plus a couple of demonstrations from the Renault historic collection, featuring a couple of Renualt 5 turbos, of which the blue one went round most corners sideways, and the first turbo-charged F1 car. Also providing demonstrations was last years R27 F1 car - that was rapid! After watching that thing from opposote the pit wall I was wishing that there were still tickets to this years Grand Prix (should anyone be interested in F1 testing, the Silverstone test is 23rd-25th of this month).
Other highlights included access to the paddock and pit lane, and for a lucky few, a chance to lap the full circuit in their own vehicles.
A few pics:
The Renault 5 Turbo's on display before taking to the circuit.
Renault's first turbo charged F1 car with the without the engine cover.
A classic Renault sports car.
There were several classic road vehicles, of which this had the most distinctive look.
At this point we headed to the pits and I was lucky enough to be able to get onto the pit wall and find an opening in the barrier. Instead of hanging out a pit board, I put the camera out to get a few pics of the private owners taking to the track.
My friend Anna on pit straight in the first of the Renault's.
A quick look at the garages:
A quick run accross the bridge to the grand stand opposite the pits ready for the F1 demonstration.
The R27 was too fast to capture, so when I've uploaded the video, I'll place a link to that.
The rest of the photos are from the Formula Renault 3.5, Formula Renault 2.0 and Megane cup. There are some videos of the Meganes which I took from Bridge heading towards the complex including on spin on the first lap which I will upload later.

I got home a couple of hours ago, all i can say is WOW what a great day out me and the missus have had
The Formula 3.5 race was mind blowing, the noise they made whilst awaiting the green light while all on full throttle bouncing of the rev limit was just like nothing ive ever heard in my life
Honestly, i got goosebumps all over my neck and back! And was speechless for a good few seconds after they zoomed off, i have to hear that noise again at some stage in my life, what a rush it was
Just finished uploading the start of the race when they all fly off, i remember shouting 'here we go now' at the top of my voice as they all hit the rev limiters but you can hardly even hear it
Not the best quality in the world, but the sound is sweet so dont be shy with the volume

Still buzzing from it now
A few of my pic's
