R.I.P Molly the dog
My english springer spaniel has died today in my arms after having a brief fit. She was just over 2 yrs old. She stopped breathing and her heart failed.
I gave cpr under instruction from a vet but to no avail. You may remember back in february when I found her in a pool of blood as she got stuck inbetween the stair rails and we nearly lost her then.
Sorry for the negative thread but im struggling to hold it as the full term pregnant wife is really upset so just need to get it off my chest
Rest in piece little one, you will be missed.

That's awful news fella....
That's why I can't bring myself to ever own another pet dog.... lost one a while back and it felt like someone had removed my heart with a desert spoon!
DCI.... gutted for you

That's really sad j.
I remember the stairs thread very well. Do you think there is a link at all? Perhaps you'll never know.
Do get another when j junior has settled in. I am sure your wife will welcome a baby and a puppy
All the best to you both. d

in light of the other thread yesterday dci, i am sorry for your loss. my family had a young bichon frise, well was my sisters, but that died a few years back. we now have since a golden retriever thats still here, different animal i kno, but i had a cat myself, which I, at 3yrs old picked, he was jet black i named him n everything, and he died 3 years ago...he lasted twenty human years! but was absolutely gutted when he passed away. a loss of a pet, especially when a family involved, is like losing a proper member of the family and i give u my regards

Oh that's awful news I'm so gutted for you, I remember the previous thread well
I agree with DCI's description of losing a dog, it's awful. My previous hound was getting old and I knew that the inevitable was only a short time away and I couldn't bear the thought of it so I went out and got another dog. In some ways when the older one died it helped having another one there. I'm such a wimp at dealing with the death of my dogs that I know I'll do the same again and again - this is coming from the person who said I'd never have another one.
I really feel for you and your wife, I really do

So sorry to hear that, I lost a dog at 2 years of age too, truely heart wrenching but to not get another, the loss is awful I agree but the smiles they give you for so many years cant be beat so I chose to have another. The house feels too empty without them IMO.

The way the wife is she doesnt want one as she cant go through this again. We have just been out to the shops and she has just broke down in there which is heartwrenching to see.
Was so looking forward to Molly and baby Joseph (when he arrives) playing together and growing up together.

On a slightly lighter note it will be the same with hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits as Joseph grows up!
So my advice (advice on SN ) would be to let your wife get over it and when you feel the time is right gently mention the subject of a puppy - something that won't mind its ears being tugged

condolences jay. because of pet hair allegies, me and nat can only have little hamsters, but were really attached to the little buggers regardless of the mess they cause.
worst thing is they have a life expectancy of around only 2-3 years max, thats gonna upset me when the inevetable happens.
dunno what else to say, ive been there years ago as a small boy. i suppose at least you were there when it happened, so you shared her last moments, rather than finding her.
all the best mate

I myself have an English springer (in liver and white) and i hate to think of the day when she leaves me.
She's called Puzzle, is 9yrs old next month and i've had her since she was 8 wks old.
She is loving, sensative and a right little pain at times! but to think of life without her after all we have been through together over the years just doesn't bare thinking about.
We call her 'handbag' as she hates to leave my side.
Twice in two years i was told by the vet's she wouldn't make the night through being i'll but two years on everything is fine.
I really feel for you and your family.
Best regards,
John.

So sorry to hear your news... gutted for you!
Remember well the "stairs" thread, I was so pleased that Molly seemed to have recovered and was making such good progress. Cannot begin to imagine what you went through when she had her fit .
I have 2 boxers and whilst I don't like to think about the day when I have to say good bye to two of the best dogs I have ever known I aslo know they make our house a home. The kids love em to bit's as well and I don't think we could be without a dog / 2 dogs.
Give it a little time and let things settle. See how you feel once Joseph has arrived and maybe then you will all have a better perspective of what you want and fell you can cope with.
Whatever you decide I wish you the best of luck with the arrival of your son and hope that their will be 4 small paws also joining your family.
Kids and dogs that share mutual respect make a superb combination!!
Just my thoughts - best wishes

We had a 1 year old Cocker Spaniel called Molly who unfortunately died after a 3 week struggle in hospital. Someone suggested we buy her brother which we did and he is now 4 and as daft as ever.
Sorry for your loss.

I remember your other thread when Molly had her accident. I so sorry to hear your news.
It's been two weeks since we lost our dog, it's heartbreaking, and I can empathise with what your wife is saying. The thought of having another dog, and going through the grief & heartache again seems like an impossible task. I'm certain no other dog could measure up to Ben and his wonderful characteristics and ways, but I don't think we can endure the silence, and the void he has left in our home, for too long - it feels so strange
The time may come when you feel another dog is a happy addition to your growing family, and you will always remember Molly with love.
My thoughts to you & MrsJaytc2003.
