Does it have to panny and 1080p?
LG 50PG6000 - Plasma Television Screen - Digital Direct
1080p isn't a big deal to me and I have a 42PX70. I ordered a 50PX70 from empire direct (£789 utter bargain) they called a day later to say they sold out
The LG would be my next choice as the 50PX80 is £1300. Still not sure if 50 is too big. Sometimes I look at our 42 and think its just right other times it looks small.
I'm getting Quad Lite surround speakers which will dwarf my current tannoy efx and I think they will make the TV look small.

PS - I think this 1080i 1080p business largely depends how close you sit to the TV in relation to how big it is. So if your quite close with a 50 you MAY notice the difference. If your some distance away, you MAY not notice.

I bought a panny TH46PZ85B a few weeks ago.
Previously I had a Pioneer 43" model, 720i, fantastic picture but it had other issues and needed an upgrade, got bad service from Pioneer and fancied either Samsung or Panny.
Talked to a few people, and I got turned away from the Samsung, "If your old one was a Pioneer you aren't going to like the Samsung"
Plumped for the Panny, and fed a decent signal it is simply outstanding!! Full 1080p, it has the works. It stomps all over my old Pioneer.
One word of warning, it has techie stuff in it where, for instance, it tracks the ball in a football game, I have noticed this is good when the background is green grass, but when it's up in the air and the background is similar sized people heads, the ball kinda disappears. It doesn't detract from my viewing as I am not an avid footie fan, just something I noticed. Not sure if you can turn it off as that would involve reading the manual

They'll price match any physical store with stock, they matched Sound & Vision | Great Deals On Televisions, DVDs, HiFis & Camcorders for me. I did a thread on this recently....
https://www.scoobynet.com/non-scooby...ou-choose.html
Seriously, JLP price match, offer a 5 yr guarantee and offer customer service that's second to none, it's madness to buy elsewhere. (No connection before you ask )

I've purchased my last two TVs, including a Panny 50PZ70B, from PRCdirect. I picked it up to get the 5 year warranty Panasonic were offering at the time. I'm very happy with the TV, was really worried about motion blur and screen retention but haven't seen anything, use it just or Sky HD and Bluray.

The Panny 50PZ80 is the newer version of my TV. For the money it's a cracking TV, if you have loads of cash then Pioneers are better but I could justify the price being doubled...

I have to say as a ex-TV salesman that has seen the PZ's running, i really dont know how your new tv could look as good as your 43" Pioneer. I have a 436 and have yet to see anything other than the newest Pioneers look better especially on terestrial TV.
Although in saying that the Panasonics are very very good and if i didn't have the Pioneer i'd be buying a Panasonic too!....

If I could justify the money I would have a Pioneer but I just couldn't. The Panny is very good, I doubt you will be disppointed. I spent a fair amount of time searching for the right TV for me and the 50" 1080p Panny won out in the end.

I got a Panasonic 42" 1080 plazma from John Lewis.
With the free delivery, 5 yr warranty, price match and excellent customer services where else could I have gone.
Panasonic are excellent tv's and well worth the price tag.

My new TH-42pz800b is great, i have been messing around with the settings but going to see if i can borrow an ISF calibration kit from work, not that it needs much. I wanted a Pioneer but the 42 is no longer in production and a couldnt strech £3400 for the 50" (9th gen) but happy with the one i got and I see the pioneers every day.
