Growing Sunflowers
Just for a bit of fun I planted out a dozen or so Sunflowers in a big barrel.
They are now about 4 to 5 inches tall but need some support. I'll put in some small canes but my simple question is.......
Do I need to tie them individually or will they naturally twist around the canes? I gather I can eat the petals. Perhaps I can run the diesel on the rest?

It's best to secure them to the canes as they can be damaged by wind.
I've never heard of anyone eating the petals though. The seeds, yes, but the petals I can't advise on.
It is also possile to buy sunflowers with black petals instead of the usual colour.

Aircon seedbag! How nice of you to join us again, I wanted to plant some sunflowers, am I a bit late now, or can I just throw some seeds in the ground and watch them grow?

We grow sunflowers and they need lots of support, ours get canes as well as a wall with wire which I tie them to as they get very top heavy. They are excellent fun to grow, enjoy

And very wise old ( ) moderator. Do you have a spare wall? If so drop one around. I'll make it worth your while

We planted one last week along with a venus flytrap and a bodysnatcher plant. The Mrs did it with our 3 year old and they're currently in plastic bags to hot house them (they all came in a kit or something)
