Default People in Sales/Commissioned based jobs!

How have you been finding the recent weeks?

I'm defo feeling the strain of a ressession and i'm afraid its about to get worse!

I have never pitched a sale to be told that its a great price and definitely want it but then to be told that they just can't afford it at the moment as i have in the past 3 weeks. Either you have straight cut yep want the product or nope your company works in conjunction with the Devil and by just talking to you I feel my chances of going to Heaven have dwindled.

I've been told by workers in the shoppin Centre i am situated in at the moment that the big cheeses generally believe that May hasn't been this quiet in 8years!!! which is shocking!

Even the local Travel agents are saying that droves of people are comming in to cancel holidays, which according to them never happens!

This winter is going to be BLEAK!

Blimey that sounds bad

I know the company I work for is in a bit of a bad way. HUGE extra fuel expenditure so far this year.

Working for a US company (in pre sales, but close enough to know what's going on), we have seen a downturn. Chatting to a friend of mine today who runs a small specialist IT company, she said that they had lost 3 very high profile / high value contracts for work that a month ago had been signed off (all banks in the City), so I think it is fair to say that times are getting tougher.

Yup, work in sales for big US firm. Based in City selling to fund managers. Quite a few have put projects on hold because of budget and hiring freezes, outlook for the year is not good...

a lot of it is the media worrying people which in itself can cause recession, people need to try and carry on as usual and make small cut backs and not to panic.

the people cancelling holidays obviously couldnt afford them to start with.

Being a buyer in manufacturing there is definitely a down turn, i must get at least a dozen calls a week off suppliers asking if we have any work coming through.

we are incredibly quiet, our sales team have sold one server worth 400 quid in the last 5 weeks, however the other side of the company has won a 4 million pound contract

I am leaving and start a new job in a week or so's time and they are having a massive recruitment drive, forecasting excellent projections, and looking to double the size of the company in a few months

It does help when your main manufacturer/supplier wins massive projects with Formula 1, Football stadiums etc

I work in the kitchen sales and it's very quiet across the board in our industry too. The only companies that are still selling the same are the high high end market (80k plus kitchens) but if you can spend that much on a kitchen then the credit crunch wont be bothering you too much

i m in car sales, mercedes is ok, ticking over but not setting the world alight, however smart has gone through the roof, we have a budget of about 16 per month, we did 9 last week and have done 10 so far this week.

the issue with smart is availability at the momment, i am taking orders for august/september as there are not enough cars coming into the country, i have people waiting till december for brabus versions!!

i do think, speaking to others in the industry, times are hard, everywhere.
