Question

Am I right that Speedmasters do not have any real waterproofing?

Always put me off it. Maybe it went to the moon, but if it can't handle me doing the washing up, I found it a bit pointless.

Whatever you get, don't get it in the UK. I got a Speedmaster a couple of years ago in Tenerife - saved about £400 off the UK list price. Global warranty means UK repair centre will still fix it if it goes wrong.

£ 1050 and interest free credit for a year, option to trade in later and if you buy another product for double original value they will give you 100 % trade in on original cost.

anyone have one and reccomend them.

hoping for a Breitling in a year or so.

2.5 K ??? surely not for the same model, or is Seamaster a range and not actual model name ?

Wink

If it's the same advert I saw then read it again....it said off the next Omega you bought !

I bought mine duty free, but you can haggle at most jewlers to a similar level. I got down to the same price with one, but he wanted cash and I wanted to pay by card.

think so.

I'd go for the speedmaster as well - lots of different models and more of a classic. Forget the moon watch novelty, though.

If you are going for a seamaster, I'd go for an automatic, not a quartz. Auto's hold value better.

stephen emery - your's is a different model to the one in Costco.

BTW Costco only have the full size watch not the midi version - unless they've got new stock in.

They have 2 - the Seamaster at about £600 and the huge Seamaster Pro - you could choke a donkey with that one.

LOL @ Father Jack. So which watch would choke a chicken? Placcy Micky Mouse or a Submariner?

It'd have to be one of those that wind themselves up with a bit of wrist movement

i got a seamaster Pro chrono had it 3 years, cannot fault it, it has been through all sorts,i wear it everyday and been diving, climbing, etc.. and it still looks like new,

I have other watches Tag kirium chrono which feels cheap and nasty next to the omega.

If you can stretch the extra mile I'd reccommend Rolex. Sean Connery sported a Submariner in the prologue for Goldfinger when he blows up an installation after swimming in a wetsuit whichhe removes to reveal a dinner suit.

I've got a Seadweller ( a sort of very high spec submariner) and it has been bomb-proof and avoids the vulgar ostentation that characterises many sports watches.

I need a bomb proof watch I am often bombed.

I would not spend £1000 on a quartz watch, it is just foolsih even thoug it keeps better time.

I have a 35 year old omega seamaster which is automatic and still keeps great time.

I always felt rolex were overated and the product of fantastic marketing.

Better watches are certainly out there in the guise of pateke phillipe, audermars piguet etc.

I will be looking for a breitling myself one day but they are certainly not equivalent in style to those mentioned above.

My absolute favourite being the cheapest in jaeger range at £1850 the master ultra slim which I believe to be the best looking watch ever.

whats the www to costco, i understand the deal with the shop is you can exchange for any item and not just another omega watch.

however the price differences seem massive, £ 600 Vs £ 1050 is this really for the same watch.

the watch i want is a Breitling at £ 2450 the best i can find it is in a Italian dealer for £ 260 less, maybe the uk dealers would come down to that though so i doubt its that much cheaper going to another country.

Alexanders do have a good range of 2nd hand watches too , and many Breitlings.
