Smile Sat Nav recommendations, please.

Hi everyone, done the usual search on the Internet for Sat Nav and just ended up more confused.
Can anyone suggest a reliable no nonsense, easily upgradeable U.K. maps with "safety camera" alerts.

Many thanks in advance,
Mouser.

Cool

I would have a look at Halfords, they have a 50% on all satnav.

I got the Garmin nuvi 250 from them about a month ago and I have been very pleased with it. It has camera alerts, but they are a trial I think. The next model up has them and traffic info included, and in the sale I think it's cheaper than what I paid

The POIs that come supplied are poo, but a quick search round the internet found free ones to upload and they are fantastic.

I'm not sure if any are available with upgradeable maps for free, but there's always a way, if you know what I mean .

Mine came with street level Europe supplied as well.

I had my Tomtom G0720 stolen last Friday, I paid £230 for it about 3-4 weeks ago.

I have just bought another (and getting it up to date as I type), the 720 has voice recognition, great for finding an addres when driving, connects by bluetooth to your phone (if you want).

If you go for the Traffic model it costs about another £50, BUT you can get the TMC unit separately on Ebay for about £30-£35 delivered

NOW FOR THE BEST BIT ....... I have just paid £185 for it from Curry's , I did a Google on my phone whilst in store for 'Tomtom go720' and it brought up the above price, even Curry's own computer system did not have that price, and they were surprised, but because I had proof of the price, they did the deal.

The 720 was/is my first satnav, and must say I am over the moon with it, going back to a conventional map is a pain

I bought a TomTom V3 UK and ROI from Halfords 2 weeks ago, it was on offer for £129.99 and included a windscreen mount, carry case, in car adaptor and a RDS traffic receiver (if all bought seperately it would have been £199.99), I had been going to get the same one at Argos for the same price but the traffic updates included with the argos one was 1 months trial then would have to subscribe to it and pay for it, the one from Halfords came with a lifetime traffic update so never need to subscribe to it. I'm not sure if the offer is still on but they have got 50% off at the moment

Spend less than 130 quid on a Sony PSP, buy a 4gb memory stick off Ebay, a PSP car holder and then buy Go!Explore satnav software.

It works brilliantly and you will have alot more than just satnav for your money.

I've got the (now ageing) Navman F20.

It does the job brilliantly. So easy to use even my mum can use it.

Maps are upgradeable (at a cost). Has scamara data
