Went in Jan, frickin loved it. Worth checking the hotels out on review sites first though as there are some holes !
We flew with Airtours and even their basic long haul seats are fine

Grand Palladium Punta Cana.
3 hotels on one site.
Got lots of pics that help show the truth of the place if you want.
Went all inclusive and its superb food every day, and 11 places to choose to eat, gym, casino, loads of pools, right on the beach and a nice one at that. Tennis, table tennis, archery, loads of water sports (sea ones not bedroom ones)
I would recommend it.
Just avoid the annoying people at the airport lol.
Airport is spectacular too lol....

You know you wanna.
Just asked the missus if she would recommend where we went, and she says a resounding YES!

One thing I have been told was to make sure when you're ordering rum, that you say "No gasoline" as I believe they try to serve the tourists the local stuff (the gasoline) which is very, very strong, thus possibly resulting in some unwanted side effects.

Had two weeks in the RIU Merengue in February: Hotels Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic - Riu Hotels & Resorts
Few miles up the coast from Puerto Plata. Fantastic hotel in a group of three RIU hotels sharing a large bay, you could use the facilities in all the hotels so never far from a drink There was a tower at the tip of the bay which was a great spot for watching the sunset.
Enjoyed every minute of it, so relaxing, we had good weather too Never stayed in an all-inclusive before, normally go for more active type holidays, but it was really good not having to lift a finger for food or drink. Do the mega truck excursion did it on my birthday and had a really good day, after my partner told them it was my birthday I was kept in constant supply of beer and got a free bottle of rum
The only thing I would say is if you want the typical Caribbean white sand beach then the Atlantic north coast is not so good, the south side has the better beaches but then the price reflects Our beach was nice enough, just a bit rocky in places.
Anyway enough of me, just choose your hotel by checking the Trip Advisor reviews and go, you'll love it

I didn't , is it supposed to be bad for that sort of thing then?
Having said that they were pretty obsessed with hygiene in the place we stayed, there were maids stationed outside each of the toilets and the main restaurant to provide you with a squirt of that anti-bacterial hand gel stuff. Must of worked as we had no problems

It has always had a bad rep for stomach bugs. There was a whole hotel come down with it a few months ago, it was on the news. I'm sure that some places are fine (like the place you stayed at)
On the whole I now avoid countries that have a bad rep for such things, it spoils two of the most important weeks of the year

I had a stomach problem but was not brought on by poor hygine. More the fact I had not eaten solid food for 2 months before lol.
Dont sound good though
I would recommend a decent hotel to anyone though.
