Have you ever walked away from it all?
Have you ever thought about or actually packed a bag (I mean one bag only), for whatever reason, and taken that step to a new life without a clue of how it would turn out.
I did it many years ago and it was the most enlightening thing I ever did!
Closing the front door and walking away from everything that I'd known, not knowing where I was going to end up, was the most exciting and frightening thing I ever did. I was pooping myself but it was also the best high I'd ever had. And no, I wasn't running because I was in trouble, that's easy
Ever had the urge?

You're not Richey Edwards from the Manic Street Preachers by any chance ?
I suspect most people have at one point or another, but aren't prepared to take the chance. It may have worked out for you, but the grass isn't necessarily greener on the other side.

I never had a thought for 'greener grass'. It was an adventure without any guarantees. That's why it was exciting/scary.

I did it about ten years ago, packed everything I wanted to keep in a big wheely bag, gave everything else away and went to work in London on a six week contract not knowing what I was getting into or what was coming after. It was a big change from North East Scotland I can tell you!
Ten years later I was still there and have never regretted it.
Opened doors I'd never otherwise have had opened and allowed me to see things and places I never thought (or even contemplated) I would.
But ten years was enough and if anyone knows the lyrics to Dougie MacLean's Caledonia, that just about tells the story.
If you have a chance - do it, it might not work out but surely having tried is better than a life of "what if..." ???

Although I was pretty well travelled, I'd never had the opportunity to live in another culture which became an obsession after having a taster.
Basically I had a brainstorm. Spent, literally, a few days planning my exodus and just did it with my heart in my mouth.
I'm happy I did. Things are much better than I could have expected

Always fancied getting on a plane to a Greek island and just working in a bar for the summer. Sunbathe all day, mingle with the holiday makers by night. I know bar work is hard work but i would just like try it for a season. Probably wouldn't last a month but it's a nice idea!

Did it Boxing Day 1999. Big step, made sure I'd considered my options beforehand. Now I've got 3 kids who run me ragged I sometimes wonder if I did the right thing....... Apparently I may be rewarded later in life

Not exactly walking out of my life but Ive got some money together and Im packing my bags and flying to Panama 2 weeks today. I have no plan as to what Im going to do with myself once Im there, just me and a backpack for a few months before flying back. Thinking it will be a good character building exercise.
