Default S'netters help needed - insect identification!!

I came home last night, and whilst fumbling in my bag for the front door key, i heard a noise which I thought was a cricket.. I looked up and boucning itself off and around the porch light was a mahoosive bug...

as I absolutely hate anything bug like, i dropped the key and my bag..

we found it this morning, and it is currently residing in a jam jar... but what the foof is it exactly??

Apologies for the picture quality..

We had one last night crashing my wifes birthday party, like an airborne Walnut with candelabras stuck to its head, you only get them for a few days in May, hence the name.
