Default A funny thing happened..

..to me today at the cash machine, pulled up and their was a que, consisted of 1 old guy about 70 and 2 eastern europeans, anyway after the 2 easterns had spent 2-3 minutes talking to each other in their native tounge,it came clear that they didnt know how to use the machine so the old guy in front of myself asks them and I quote "is there any f*ucking chance of you's 2 f*cking tryin another machine, people are waiting".I was quite taken back and amused by this so the 2 easterns moved on looking very confused.
And they say this generation has no manners.

I bet he would have said the same to a couple of English/English speaking lads.

And I'd make him right. Pisses me off when people dick about at the cashpoint when there's a que.

Come on, if someones struggling then just be patient. Its not like they were probably hogging it for the fun of it. Just remember that when youre in another country trying to work something out and their locals have alot more patience added to the fact they'd probably try to help you too.

When I'm in another country I do the proper research and try to make sure I'll understand enough of the language to get money out of a cash machine, buy food/beer, sort out my accomodation and get around etc.. Anyway, it's probably doubtful that they were tourists!

Good on the old fella, lol

Too right. I once got stuck behind a woman who was depositing £10 into the cashpoint. To what seemed like her 10 f*cking accounts

Just the bit about the eastern European looking types made me think - immigrant workers who haven't or can't be bothered to learn to speak the language - FINE they may very well have been tourists ffs. I'll just bet they weren't

Tourists would have put in their foreign bank card and the machine would have switched to their language.

Doesnt that only happen with credit cards not bank cards? Never had a debit card change languages before, only a credit card

I'm sure I've used a debit card abroad before and it's changed.

TBH, I must say I hate it when people just **** about at a cash machine as if it requires a degree to operate, or looking at it as if it's 'foreign'. Regardless of where they were from, a little bit of patience would go along way, if someone is genuinely struggling, or a bit of help if absolutely necessary. There's a world of difference between someone pissing about, and someone struggling.

As for bigging up the old guy, I'd almost do the same if he'd hurried someone up who was just faffing about, but I still can't say that I'd support such an attitude of telling someone to **** off. I hate queues as much as the next person, but I've still got enough respect for others not to take that tone, regardless of how much someone might **** me off.

I hope when I'm in a foreign country, the natives have a little more patience with me if I was to struggle with their language, and heaven forbid, hold them up for a short time.

That is true

As a less than typical woman, nor am I, when I'm really fed up, I tend to tut and sigh rather than tell someone to **** off.

I wish I could keep so cool at work

You oughta hear my missus, if someone is hovering over her or standing too close at a cash point she lets them know...lol...she always says what she thinks, leaves me stood there cringing at times..

I gotta say, you are right about the old fella being a bit rude (what the hey, no one was killed) but it must have been a comedy situation to witness!

I can't deny, I might have laughed if I was there, probably out of shock.

Jimmy, good on your wife, I think she is defending herself more than being rude, there's no harm in that at times, even if it does make you cringe.

OS, you know me... for some strange reason, work brings out the worst in me.
