I just found a large drum of whey protein supplement at the back of a kitchen cupboard, it's one I bought but I haven't used any of it for ages. There is about 1.5Kg left, which I'd rather use than throw out.

However, it's use by date is June 2007, so it's nearly a year out of date.

Is it likely to be safe to use? I'm actually drinking some at the moment so I can probably tell you for sure in a few hours. But if it looks, smells and tastes ok, should I carry on using it?

in answer to the question it's powder, how off could it get in a sealed container. sell by / use by dates on somthing like that shouldnt be a problem. and if it is youll only get the trots for a day.. is this for body building?

When I was younger I used to eat around 200 grams of protein a day when I was lifting. Hence the username My farts could melt the skin off your face
