Panasonic Plasma Question
I'm looking to buy either the TH-50PZ700A or the TH-50PZ70A
The 700A is full 1080 but I've heard bad things about DVD playback.
The 70A is not full HD but can downscale 1080i very well.
Then there is the Pioneer Kuro, slightly more expensive but meant to be a lot better.
What should I do. I think this is a no brainer and go for the HD [though the 70A is a lot cheaper]. Or I could go for the Pioneer.
Help the undecided

Spend the extra money on going for a Pioneer, you won't regret it. I've got the PDP-LX508D Kuro panel. It's full 1080p, supports 24p movie playback and pretty much handles anything that is thrown at it with ease. Even low def source playback is superb.
They are more expensive but you get what you pay for in this world.

The PZ range of Panasonics are all full HD 1080. The PX range are 768, hence work better with a 720p or 1080i signal. The difference in the 700 to the 70 is usually the quality of the built-in speakers (no need if you use an AV system), some extra connections (you decide if you need 'em, but most AV amps will take all you need meaning a single HDMI to the display) and some SD card slots (so what). I also heard that on the 7* range that the 700 panel was a development of the old 600, whereas the 70 was a completely new and better unit, but I may be wrong on that. The new 8* range are out now and look very good.

Still undecided as I've heard really good things about the PX70 and mixed feeling about the PZ700.
Really want to go for Panasonic as they have a very good rep, my last plasma was LG and I learn't that you get what you pay for !!!!!

PX70 - 768 pixel
PX700 - 768 pixel with better speakers, nicer case and SD card slots
PZ70 - 1080
PZ700 - 1080 with better speakers, nicer case and SD card slots, but possibly an older panel technology (rumoured).
Best value for spec is the PZ70 IMHO.
I have a PX60 and it is superb, and has been faultless for 18 months now. I intend to run it at least another 5 years and then see what's available then.

Spent a long time looking and ended up with the 50pz70. Would have loved the Pioneer Kuro but it's way too expensive for me. I'm very impressed by mine and SD and HD playback is very good through Sky.
The panel, or processor, is newer than the 700 apparently and I thought there was some rumour about the 70 being able to playback 24p sources with very little judder compared to the 700.
The main reasons to get the 700 are the better sound and the 3rd HDMI slot, that said it was a fair bit more expensive when I was looking and I think I could have purchased an amp and 5.1 speakers for the difference
