Too close for comfort!
Yesterday morning I arrived at work, done all the usual in my normal half asleep state, so I'm in the warehouse when I hear a truck outside so I open the roller door, go out into the pissing rain, collect a small delivery from the driver, came back in closed the door and sat down to enjoy a cup of tea and browse Scoobynet as I sat down I happened to see something on my shoulder, initially thought the stitching on my jacket had burst.......
However as I turned for a closer inspection, the (what I thought was burst stitching) thing started running towards my face
I flicked it off my shoulder and it hit the ground..
(that is a 10p piece in front of it)
Now I don't mind spiders but that was getting a little too close! I can only assume it was attached to the bottom of the roller door and dropped on me as I was taking the delivery in.
It sure woke me up lol, however I got my own back when I chucked it out in the pissing rain.

lol has a 2am shocker once.
Never did see the size of it, but having a lazy sit down pee in the dark in the bathroom, and felt something on my head....
Then start to walk down my face !!
Brushed it off, finished, and hit the lights.... nothing to see, but I know it was a spider, and I KNOW it was NOT small lol

I watched one of them catch a wasp in it's web and then set about it last summer, ever since then I no longer kill them, even if they try doing an impersonation of a Pirates Parrot.

It seemed to be fast on my shoulder, but after it hit the floor it just sat there and posed for a photo (stunned I think) It started to move pretty rapidly when I was trying to catch it though, I managed to get it on a piece of paper and evict it

I get some massive spiders in my house. I just gnore them and leave them to it, but if I have guests, especially females, they all want me to squash them. I tell them "No way! That's Dave, he's my lodger, he rents the front bedroom!" They just kind of forget about them after that. If not I pretend to pick up the spider and chase them with, empty, cupped hands

If you are a decent sort who chooses not to kill spiders but still feel you have to chuck them out, then be careful when 'escorting them from your premises'....
If you throw them, then although they appear to scamper off, their skeleton thingy will have been crushed and they'll scuttle off appearing fine, but will soon die through their injuries.......
Put them on the ground gently

Had one drop on me in bed one night. woke up for some reason and heard a soft noise, as though someone had flicked the duvet and i was convinced something had walked by my face.
got up and flicked the light on and searched the covers but couldn't see a thing. I was about to get back in when some sort of giant bird eating spider than could have drained me of all blood in one night (well ok maybe not but it was Hooooge!) wandered out from behind the bed board. By the time i'd armed myself to catch it it had cleared off!
Had a few nervous nights and finally my mum caught it in a routine hoover round and the thing wouldn't fit it was that big.
To qualify this i have to say i was visiting the parents for a weekend, not actually living with me mam.

I have a lot of deaths on my conscience now........
Bathroom sink, middle of the night and out they go through the window floating on a tissue to the distant lawns below.
I'll just leave them on the window sill now and they can abseil down themselves
Aren't they considered good luck in China or Japan or somewhere; they build special little houses for them inside????? dl

When i was in Iraq we had all heard about these camel spiders but after 2 months I hadn't seen any, however that was soon to change, one of the lasses decided that the desert wasn't flat enough for her cam cot so layed some large planks on some bricks.
Granted very flat but also very hospitable to these hard as nails spiders. When we lifted them up there were loads of them hiding in the nice new shade!
That night when i got in my dos bag (a bag I had been using for a good few years) something brushed passed my foot. Needless to say i got out pretty rapidly which in a sleeping bag is in itself amusing. I then proceed to beat the living crap out of my dos bag with a shovel much to the amusment of my mate. I'd say a good 10 mins of pummeling only to find out that there are 2 tassle type hook things on the inside for drying it inside out.
When i did catch one i hit it with a shovel which simply pushed it into the ground he simply shrugged it off, gave me a look of disgust and carried on chasing my shadow.
