Google map it
Depending on route and time of day I reckon 2-3 hours.

It depends where in Reading you are going. If it is in the center, then I have sat for over an hour as the A329 ends trying to fight my way into the center. I have also worked in Green Park (J11/M4) and that wasn't so bad...

Don't forget to factor in Reading's one way system!! That can add an hour to the journey!!!

As above, getting into the centre can be time consuming at that time, but if you're headin' to the south of Reading (i.e. Green Park, J11) that'll save a lot of time.

the jouney is quite easy, the worst problem is going to be how to judge how the traffic will affect your journey time. It can be done in just over 80 mins or if the M25 is its usual state at that time of the morning it can take quite a lot longer. May I suggest leave very early, and have breakfast at the services nr Reading. That will give you time to spare, chilled and fed.
p.s. have done romford/reading many many times
