Anyone going to Moscow for Champions League Final?
If so, and if interested in learning the do's and dont's in Moscow, let me know. I have been about 25 times in the last 5 years and can still remember the first visit (total confusion from the moment of arrival till I left again due to massive language difficulties with everything in Cyrillic, few English speakers and everyone trying to rip you off!! . There are several "scams" that are aimed at tourists frequently etc.) Only after I learned reasonable conversational Russian over a 2 year period did I feel better equipped to deal with what can be the "fun" capital of the world if you know what you are doing.I will NOT be going during the football as it will be 3 x worse than normal for problems.

Indeed, sounds interesting anyway.
I'm sure I read somewhere recently that Moscow is/was the most expensive in the world to visit, with hotels being more expensive than NYC or London. True?

VERY Expensive western hotels and restaurants (unless you know your way about). I could talk for hours on Moscow and it's oligarchs, mafia, scams , maniacs on the roads, etc, etc. But I do not have the time to put it in print.
What it does have without any shadow of a doubt is by a factor, the most sensational looking women in the world - and in mass numbers!!!! Just walking on any main street in Moscow you are faced woth teeming numbers of them , which made me originally think that a beauty competition had just ended and these were some of the competitors.

There are 4 Marriotts in Moscow , so am sure they will all be offering these "deals". Even normally their list prices are circa £300 per night. After my first 2 visits I started using "western style" apartments right in the centre at about £60-80 per night (less back then, but now still much cheaper than hotel rip offs)

The women might be beautiful, but they all looked miserable as **** when I was there in November!
Russian beer was £8 a bottle in the hotel I was staying at, glad I wasn't paying!
Thought the underground was cool though, some nice architecture in the stations.

Moscow is full of wannabes who pretend to be mafia and try to intimidate tourists. Its also full of ******. There were so many ****** in Moscow that they spread out from Russia to All over the world. Hookers must be Russias biggest export. Its a little known fact that 1 in 3 women in Russia is a *****.

Russian culture is quite tradititional, girls here are not so free and easy as is the opinion you have. In fact they are mostly the opposite many will not drink or smoke and keep to good values. Co habitation is frowned upon here. They are not cheap ****** at all , most girls are more homely and seek to find a good man rather than money.

I'm in the Cosmos. Booked one of the official packages as initially it looked like only those might qualify for the visa waiver.

the Cosmos ! I know it! I stayed their when I came here, big bloody stupid statue of Charles de Gaulle on the outside. Its not a bad place, for typical soviet style hotel, so you will be comfortable their . You will see the huge exhibition park VDNKh ! from your window.

I have no idea how much that hotel costs now, it is one of the seven stalin towers . The hotel moscva is currently being rebuilt also. They have a new ritz-carlton hotel here on Tverskya, cheapest room is 1000 bucks a night apparently.
