Waiting for a NIP....
Anyone else had one of those joyous, fast and fun drives, the traffic clears and you get your foot down, I did last week from Manchester to near Holyhead and I am now panicing in case a NIP plops onto the mat as I suspect I may have strayed over the speed limit a smidge.....
It was daft but the road was empty but its not been worth the panic attacks, nothing flashed and a bit of research suggests that I may be ok so fingers crossed.
Anyone else had a wait like this, next Friday it will be two weeks and based on what I have read I will be in the clear if nothings turned up by then, 14 days to serve the NIP and after that point you can send it back and tell them to p1ss off.

I do that route a few times a year and generally am "Making Progress" and have not had anything before, however round the town bits people get done left right and centre, they have "Arrive Alive" vans and generally everybody seems to drive bang on 30, I have heard tales of being done for 31 in a 30 but I am fairly certain thats bollocks. they now have all the residents driving round fixated on their speedos, how that can be safe I dont know.
There are no Specs cameras on there, no fixed Gatso or Truvelo, its the mobile vans that worry me but it was dark and they generally dont seem to do night from what I have heard, the vans are generally liveried but they have also taken to using a horsebox the sneaky b4stards.
There are cameras around the tunnels of the *** but the traffic was backed up due to roadworks so nobody was going over about 10 mph anyway.
I hate this speed camera culture, ok 30, 40, 50 but I fail to see what harm anyone is doing on a dry night, no traffic in a vehicle capable of doing over 70.

As far as I know J4CKO, the NIP has 14 days plus reasonable time for postage to reach you. I doubt you were caught though, I am sure you would have seen the flashes and you say there are no Specs on the route.

The police have the option to send everything by registered post thereby guarantee its delivery. They dont do this because its cost the scammers money in postage.
However, if you change address, sell the car in or around the period of the alleged offence, the 14 day rule doesnt apply and the police are then allowed to make further inquiries.
For most registered keepers Paragraph 1 applies and 14days is fixed.

NIP must be posted within 14 days but they are allowed 3 days for postage making 17 in all.
If you get one, check the franking date.
If that is not within the 14 days, you can reject it.

read the RTOA1988, dont not give mis infomation. The nip must be served not posted within 14 days. I will quote case law to back up the legislation if you want.

They do try it on, but it is easy to rebutt the presumption of service by taking the stand and saying you didnt receive the nip within the 14 days.
Again it is bully tactics. All the scammers have to do is send the nip by registered post several days prior to the 14day expiry. It doesnt matter whether or not you receive it, because in law sending it by recorded post it is deemed served.
There are numerours cases on pepipoo were the defendant has won by taking the stand to rebutt first class service.

Yeah, I think they get away with things by it seeming official, which fools most of the population, official and threatening letters scare people.
I have seen it before, how the Police internal disciplinary for support staff worked, all officious and using pseudo legal babble to make it seem official, when in actual fact they were trampling roughshod all over UK employment law, the chap in question just had a Union rep tie them in knots and get them a bollocking for not following procedure.
So, question everything, it might get you off !
Just need to get to Friday.

Its a nice aircraft J4CKO, I had a lot of fun in it. Pity she didn't do it, I would have done a roll or two to get a better view!
The worst was when you took a "nice" young lady to one of the more deserted beaches on the island and the SAR helicopter used to hover around hoping for a flash or two! They were a right pain at times.

Get yourself a sat nav with mobile and fixed sites in it mate. Not 100% but gets the vast majority of em and will allow you to sleep a bit easier after you've had a play! If you didn't get flashed and the route isn't listed on the local speed camera partnership database, the you should be ok!
14 day wait to be sure I'm afraid though!

I agree on the Speed Camera Sat Nav, I have an old Garmin and apparently that will do it but I may get a Road Angel, could always slow down but I suspect I would get nicked anyway, I think they lower the limits on purpose or lurk where it goes from 30 to National limit just to raise revenue from otherwise sensible and law abiding motorists.
I was being daft but in my defence there were no other cars on that stretch, the car is capable and I was alert, it was literrally for a few seconds and then back to sensible speeds, ok I may have been worrying too much but loosing my licence would seriously bugger up my life (as it would anybody's).
I have heard that the further you go over a tonne, the more likely it is that you may spend a little time in a rather uncomfortable hotel, never mind the ban, the retaking the licence, the sanctamoious magistrate and general inconvenience and horror of using public transport !
