Default Have the police nothing better to do?

BBC NEWS | England | Hereford/Worcs | Speeding ticket scam man jailed

Lets face it the guy was silly trying to get off a charge for only doing 37mph but FFS the amount of resources the police must have used to nail this man is nothing short of ridiculous!!!!!

Pity they dont extend those energies to all crimes!!!

I wouldn't have thought it would've taken too much police resources to prove that offender was a total tool, looks like he did most of the work himself

But to jail him???????????????? WTF?

How many times do we watch "Traffic Cops" or the like to see an unisured driver/disqualified driver get caught and get a puny fine. Your local Chav can go out and mug an old woman, and not even get jail time.

Try to get out of a speeding fine? Jail.

Just goes to show where the Police prefer to put their resources, and the CPS prefer to put their full weight behind.

"This started out as a traffic offence and developed into a serious criminal matter which led to a jail sentence."

Attempting to pervert the course of justice is a serious offence, with up to seven years in prison. And anyone who hasn't the stones to take it like a man shouldn't be speeding in the first place.

i applaud his plan of getting off with it, i suspect a few people have done this before, and he probably spoke to a few mates who have done the same thing, its just the old bill got wise

them stickers look to new and if he had of spent a short amount of time weathering them up, he would have gotten away with it

Its because it perverting the course of justice which the courts will not like. Its got to be seen as being tough else other will try it. Its similar to witness intimidation.

His sentence will also be based on his previous record etc

I doubt weathering them up would have worked. He must have used his CC or bank card.

Numb skull

-officers found that the number plate and stickers had been bought from a local shop in December-

They don't like you getting away with fines, same sort of deal if you don't pay your council tax as well. Money is so important.

Far more important than actual justice - this is why the majority of court cases are won by the person with the deepest pockets.
In this particular case, the offender didn't exactly do himself any favours though !
