Shannon's stepfather's uncle Michael Donovan, 39, has been charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment.

Mrs Hyett was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Ms Meehan was arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Mr Donovan is the uncle of Shannon's stepfather Craig Meehan.

Mr Meehan, 22, of Dewsbury, has been charged with possessing indecent images of children.



It just gets worse, what a sad sorry mess this wjhole affair is turning into. Yes innocent until proven and all that but even so, stepfather arrested and now this shortly afterwards.

or a big setup for money. Think about it,they give shannon to his uncle, who is probably unaware of the plan, and shout ''MISSING'' and they think 'think of the publicity and cash'', and in the end they all get caught.

they probably watched the maddie case on tv and thought it'd be an easy way to make money - missing kid = donations to a fund which would then be siphoned off.
didn't maddies parents use the fund to pay their mortgage? well shannons parents probably live on benefits so instead of mortgage payments they'd use if for their continuous cigs/ lager supply which seemed endless when watching them on the tv

it did shock me that they are far from well off so to speak,yet the step dad was filmed with 2 HUGE maccy d bags of food and like 3 or 4 happy meals all in his hands, i work and cant afford to buy that amount of maccy d`s stuff,must of been £25 worth at least for 1 meal.

Would hate to think how much time / effort & money is been wasted on the investigation of the family, stopping people like this from having more children would be the best thing !
Oh and if a bomb was dropped on the area it would be no great loss in my eyes

I can't help but think that this is a by-product of the society being produced at the moment... something for nothing, live off the state and everything will be provided for you

These people don't need to work to have a standard of living they are comfortable with. So they just extend what they already see as perfectly normal. They use their daughter to get more benefits for little or no effort.

"Go stay with your Uncle. He'll take care of you. You just be nice to him"

I certainly hope this is all just here-say. Just thinking about using a child in a scam like this really is abhorrent.

On the plus side, at least she was found alive. Too many children go missing, never to be seen again.

It's never been said whether or not Shannon was sexualy abused by her so called kidnapper. If not, then I think it's deffo a scam set-up by her mother/step father.

You can understand why the police often seem to be somewhat "unsympathetic" to the families when other family members go missing. How many times have we seen the police press conference crocodile tears of the guilty party? It's those sort of people who make it so much more unbearable for the families of those genuinely missing.
