Traffic in Barnstaple

Traffic in Barnstaple
Anyone live in or around Barnstaple?
We went on holiday there about 2 years ago and spent about 30-40 minutes each day getting from just North of Barnstaple to anywhere South of Barnstaple and back again in the afternoon. I did notice loads of roadworks, new roads, new bridge? etc. going on.
Has this been finished now as we're thinking of going back, but don't want to spend half the holiday stuck in traffic again!

The bridge has made a bit of difference, but its still a pain in the bum to get into/out off town in the normal commuting times. You should be ok daytime during the week. :-)
