What benefit do you see in a sticker like that?

I always make sure I don't crash into cars that have these stickers. I always aim for one that doesn't.

Whilst I'm in the middle of a crash, It's all I can think about.

What benefit is there to advertising that?

Is it like an 'I've been to Alton Towers' sticker so all the other breeders know you're part of the club?

If it's for a Subaru just get a 'Chav on board' one.

For the hard of thinking or maybe just trolling...

Taken from What car

Q: Why do drivers put 'child on board' stickers in the back of their car? Do they think it will make other drivers more careful, or is it to excuse their own erratic driving?

A: Originally these signs were intended to assist the emergency services in the event of an accident, and would encourage them to look outside the car for a missing infant.

However, this is only useful if the sign is removed when the child is not inside the car, otherwise it risks wasting the time of the emergency services. Making sure a child is securely fastened in a properly fitted child seat is the best way to ensure its safety.

I think we all know what the original intention of these stickers was. However I don't believe they work in any way at all and wondered what the intention of the OP was in displaying one.

Quite seriously I'm interested to know what benefit they think will accrue from sticking one in their car.

If they worked I'd have one in the back of the Porsche in order to get priority treatment for myself.

The original POINT of the stickers was exactly what Paul has outlined. Sadly, people still drive up your **** like a pillock even if you're displaying such signs - so they obviuosly DON'T discourage stupidity from other drivers. Nor do I think you get "special treatment" if you have one - it allows emergency services some extra knowledge.

Anyway, why should you get priority??? Because you drive a porsche

I can think of of several benefits.

One is to be able to park in mother and child spaces with a clear conscience and not get hassled by some nimby.

And the other is to warn drivers that they are going to get their doors dented, scratched and chipped by said mother/father reaching in to strap in said child...or worse, a toddler throwing the door open to get in....children seems to make it acceptable to ignorantly damage other people's property (just an opinion ).

Nothing to do with the car, more that I value my life above that of some stranger of whatever age. Therefore if I could put a sticker in the car that would give me priority attention from the emergency services then I would.

It also seems rather naive to expect a sticker to change the driving behaviour of the type of person who would tailgate. They obviously don't have a clue and advertising the fact you've been breeding isn't going to change that.

Its an excuse for some drivers to use when driving like miss daisy or been extra cautious at junctions etc because they have the kids in the car and so wont be prepared to drive as they normally would if they where driving alone.

Bit like how people hide behind green "ive just passed my test" plates, its an excuse in case they **** up instead of been confident.

Think I might go out and buy one and stick it in the back of my car then. Maybe a cheap old baby seat in the rear as well.

Neatly combining 2 of the best but well worn scoobynet threads there sharkie- baby on board stickers and mother/child parking spaces. Nice work.

As most have said its because:

1. Can park in mother and baby spaces.
2. warn other ppl that even though i have a Subaru i do not wish you to tail me and i certainly do NOT wish to race you!!!
3.Emergency services

I also wanted something a bit different and possibly a little quirky IYKWIM.

Thanks for the replies and as NACRO puts it: Breeding is fun, try it !!!

1. You don't need one to park in the mother and child spaces, there not a permit!
2. No one wants to be tailed, having a child doesn't alter that in anyway.
3. Emergency services will not look anywhere other than a child seat for a child! You wont get priority treatment either.

If you just want to tell people that your proud to have a kid, just say so. You don't need an excuse.

I prefer the practice to the execution.

The emergency services don't prioritise people on the basis of these stickers- at least the fire service don't. I suppose anything that makes you feel safer about your child is worthwhile though.

Its pathetic how infractions are dished out on here, all he did was offer his own opinion on a topic and he gets infracted.

Infractions should be for things that are far worse like crude and insulting posts and not for someone offering an opinion.

Some people like to give out infractions for the slightest thing. It makes them important.

It makes me mad when I see people with "Little Princess on board" and all that rubbish. I dont need to know that they have little brats in their car, I can usually see they would by the ugly people driving the people carrier.

These infractions seem to be a silly idea as well. Who thought them up ?

As for being a retard, maybe tone it down a little,ok?????

They should bring back the fingers that people used to attach to their boot.
