Just phone and ask for your PAC if you want to keep your old number. Otherwise just phone now and ask for the contract to be terminated on its final day (or you'll end up paying for another month with them)

I GOT IN CONTACT WITH O2 BECAUSE I WASN'T USING HALF MY MINUTES/TEXTS. I HAD A 18 MONTH CONTRACT IN JULY 07 SO WAS EXPECTING THEM TO SAY GO AWAY AND COME BACK WHEN YOUR CONTRACT ENDS. THEY WERE BRILLIANT. THEY LET ME KEEP MY HANDSET AND CUT MY MONTHLY FIGURE FROM £45 TO £15, NO CATCH, ALL ON THE PHONE THERE AND THEN. JUST GIVE EM A RING AND SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO FOR YOU

30 days notice after the end of the contract... They do have a retention team who can offer you certain discounts / special rate upgrades etc to convince you to stay... Not that much autonomy though so dont expect miracles...
Think carefully before jumping ship as there all much of a muchness and it may be less hassle to review your contract and downgrade/ upgrade it etc...
If it is a signal issue, it may be les hassle to move house (apparantly)
