A friend of mine had it because they had an allergic reaction to something that they ate.

He wont go to the doctors, dont know if its allergic, just loks like Jeremey Clarkson in a open top car at speed, 70 odd and not exactly a health freak, I think he had some tooth problems last year so may be to do with that but it was pretty swollen and he sounded different.

I had a swollen face the other week, it was an infection, anti biotics cleared it up in a few days

It was tooth related though

most likely an allergic reaction, probably to moisturiser or medication.

I am sure our resident dentist can confirm or not but you can get very dramatic soft tissue swelling from tooth infections. As the soft tissue can swell easily and freely the swelling can often be pain free too. It can look horrendous.

Swollen face is usually caused by some allergic reaction (insect bites included), excessive alcohol consumption, liver problems, extra fat, or a punch. ( I know you ain't @rsed with a punch line etc. )

Tell him/her to go to the doc.

PS: On more serious note, someone I know ended up getting diagnosed for a critical illness with swollen face and neck. Restricted blood supply due to tumour. Ask your mate to get it checked, please.
