BT Home Phone
Well this is driving me mad, seems as though since last weeks high winds my phone line is now playing up with it constantly crackling, i can 't even hold a conversation with anyone it's that bad. And even the broadband service is bad with the router constantly rebooting.
BT have said it is an internal problem and have asked me to try a corded phone on an extension, all our phones are cordless. they firstly asked me to plug into the master socket, i don't have one of these, well at least not one that wasn't fitted by BT. I think a sparky fitted it.
Not sure what else to check, BT have said they will prob charge if they call out an engineer, and seeing as the master socket is a non-BT, which is supposed to be a big no no, god knows what they will do.
Any help appreciated.

Always keep a corded phone about the place for just this type of thing. Plus cordless phones don't work in power cuts. Plus your master socket should have been fitted by BT ..... plugging into this eliminates the household wiring. If you don't know where it is I suggest you find it .....

Well i mangaged to find a corded phone, it's still not good, unplugged everything.
The master socket has no where to plug a phone into it, just a bunch of wires.
BT have said they would charge £116 call out and then £99 per hour to fix the problem. What a joke.

silly me, the bunch of wires have been connected into a master socket in the lounge, though not a BT but a MK socket, someone mentioned that it should have a capacitor in it.
Well i found and disconnected the orange cable leaving just 2 wires which are supposed to be from the outside, tried a corded phone, still no joy. So it looks like it is a BT problem outside. How the hell can i explain how this is setup to them if they visit. Are you allowed to install an additional master socket, i think they should be able to install there own to connect to the lounge socket.
