Default Place to visit near to A1 between Newark and London ?

Got to pop down to London on Wednesday, but would like to go somewhere for a bit of a day out too if possible ?

Somewhere like Woburn or similar would be ideal !

Can't think of anywhere, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

If you take the A1/A14/M11 route to or from London the M11 takes you straight past the Imperial War Museum at Duxford. It's right next to the motorway so very convenient. I haven't been for a few years, but they've spent a lot of money on it recently. It's supposed to be very impressive and there's usually something flying around. But if you're not interested in planes, best stick to your wild animals.
