Default what is your typical impreza driver?

i reckon there are two types...

1. lives in council estate spunking his money on it all day long, house is a dump.

2. 40's balding, wants a sports car but doesnt want a big red sporty **** enlargement. so he buys one, knowing dead fast but he wont look daft in it.

discuss..

I am none of the above

That's that theory out the window, then.

To be fair the only reason I said 1 doesn't apply was because I'm not in my 40's

I purchased mine in 97 new and still own it, albeit in a slightly modified setup now.

It does seem that they are now and have been for a while the preferred choice of the, lets say, younger, less well educated, yoof

I'd doubt many less well educated folk could afford to run a scoob, unless they'd had a win or dealing of course? Dont live on a council estate and i aint bald yet or 40, not for another 17 years at least. Think you need to add a third category:

3) None of the above

You make a good point about the estates. I am always amazed when trawling through the photographs of cars in the classifieds from the likes of Pistonheads at just how many nice and valuable cars (not just scoobies) are owned by people who live in shall we say less than salubrious surroundings. The cars often look more valuable than the homes.

Maybe that's why they're for sale...

What?

Explain why a New age WR Blue STi with a "strap on" doesn't look daft!

Stap on = Factory spoiler and a silly backbox

I remember when I first started coming on this site that the typical Impreza driver was an IT geek because they were the only ones that could afford them. It was in the early noughties when IT geeks were earning silly money

The saying then went that if you saw a bloke driving a Scoob it was an IT geek and if you saw a bloke driving a Scoob with a tie on it was an IT geek on his way to a meeting

Nowadays Scoobs seem to be driven by a much broader cross section of people as there's a Scoob to fit just about every budget, blimey even wimmins drive them now Whatever next??

I never quite worked at how my old MY97 had two previous women owners.

You mean the only ones in that class of person that could afford them. What were they £20k at most?

I think it is unwise to make a generalisation like that. I bought mine because I appreciated a light car which was well put together with excellent roadholding and signifcant performance. The whole idea was for driving pleasure although that possibilty is fast disappearing in these days of excessive traffic.

Since I have handled the spanners since I was too young to ride a motor 'bike, I also got a great deal of pleasure in tweeking the engine and the suspension until I had a lot of power and even better neutral handling with no understeer. Also improved the brakes of course.

I am none of the above either

seems to be an arguement for type 1.5 person
owns home (usually large mortgage)
owns car (usually classic cos cheaper)
has other half
kids or plannin to have them
late 20's/early 30's
has scoob cos compromise between fast car/practical car

well that's me anyway
i can do school run then drive to work on my private runway at an illegal speed, stop do some shoppin on way home, then get kids again.
perfect!

I'm 22, live in a council house, pay for my K reg import with pimp tints and body kit through dole fiddles and my 'home grown' - dont bother with insurance or road tax - would rather spend my money on white tracky bottoms and 9ct gold plated sovs from Argos.
