Will......when to write one?!
I'm 28, soon to be living on my own, have no dependants.
Is there any point in me having a Will?
I have a life insurance policy which details who is to deal with my estate if I croak.
Aside from leaving detailed instructions as to who gets what, is there any other benefit to having a Will?

Yes.
Having a will means that 'who gets what' gets their bequest without having to wait months (or even years) for your estate to go through probate.

Never too soon. Its not just monetary: Burial whises (crem, church, any choons to played). Also appointing executor (although watch out with solictors that write wills for you and want you to appoint them as the party to handle your estate - charging a % fee for the privilidge). Also helps sort out problems caused when people pop out the woodwork on a mad free-for-all when to cark it.
Although I did mine last year at 27, and didn't want to do it; as its accepting the fact that I will die and that I'm taking a mature stance on it all....I don't want to grow up, yet.
Also nominating someone for power of attorney should you become a cabbage is another wise move. Also a "Living Will" might be handy for decision making should you ever become a persistant vegetable.

your life policy may nominate a beneficiary if its in trust but it wont deal with your estate.
as you are about to have your own house you should do one, it will make your parents job a lot easier to sort things out if your dead.
a cheap one from WH Smiths or online will suffice.
As an aside - with no dependants.....why have a life policy anyway???
