Default What's the best way to dispose of knives...?

We're moving and have found an old set of kitchen knives that are past their best and we need to get rid of them.
Don't want to just put them in with the rubbish or leave at the tip for some scumbag to pick up a disposable weapon.

So... what's the best (ie safest) way to dispose of knives?

Have never thought about it before...

I'm sure if someone scally needs a knife they aint gonna go down the tip.

Stick em in a box and throw in the bin. Same as glass

Cool, will check there.
It's just that there are enough knives on the street without somebody being able to pick up my few.
I know people wouldn't go specifically but who's to say they wouldn't pick up what's there? That's what I want to avoid.

If you are really that concerned, take them to a local police station and explain your concerns, I'm sure they will then be able to safely dispose of them for you.

Got a fire??, throw them on, when cooled you will be able to smash them up easily.
