Default Body builders - Protein takers - Help

Right taking a protein supplement.

Body Fortress Why Protein.

On the back it says for adults mix one level Spoon to 1/2 cup (125ml) water, juice, milk etc.

It also says more then 250mg maybe cause stomach upset.

Now the Level Spoon holds 25g of the stuff I filled it and weighed it.

So does this mean one spoon full is enough for the day ? cause mix that with 125ml and you have a mouth full ???

WTF??

It means more than 10 scoops I take around 5 a day (22g's protein a shot) plus tuna or chicken to make up my 150 g's of protein a day, never done me any harm apart from my pooh turns dark black.

may i ask what your taking it for? are u training?

your meant to take 1-2g of protein per pound of body weight.

and as you've mentioned that one scoop holds 25g of protein.

this is because your body can only digest 25-30g of protein at a time.

Im about 140 pounds (10 stone) so I take at least 150-200g of protein per day (this protein count also includes food not just the whey drinks)

I use the drinks before and after training and in between meals. (say every 2-3 hours)

If you were to exceed the 250g mark this would mean you would have to drink 10 scoops worth of the stuff.

hope i was of some assistance

You only need to factor in the protein for your lean bodyweight, not total bodyweight.

In general you require in grams the equivalent of your weight in pounds to put on sizeable gains in muscle. ie i weigh 220 pounds so in theory i would have to take 220 grams of protein per day.

Now when you take into account that a can of tuna is about 25-30 grams (small tin) you can see the problem. Additionally your body will only take in upto about 40g of protein per sitting.

So to your problem the stomach upset is really down to your body not being used to the amount of protein. I (and this is embarrassing) used to suffer with an itch ring from the amount of protein i was taking. Experiment and see what works for you. You can't over load on protein as your body just p*sses out what it doesn't require.

So i would recommend in trying to take three protein shakes per day, one when you get up once after training and one before bed. The rest of your protein intake can be made up from a sensible diet, i hope this helps.

OK I'm even more confused now....

Would the spoon thing only be 25mg ? I'm sure it said 25g on the scale.. and is 25g the same as 250mg ??

In which case one spoon is enough to hurt me ...

Why cant they just include the ****ing spoon and the amount...

Jesus H christ!

oh sorry yes I'm body building and I weigh 11 stone 2 .. pure man !

which is slightly less than the one per 120ml

it looks and smells nice.. if I die I'm blaming you..

that will be 4 25g spoons so far today

edit: its not think its nice.. the scales did say 25g though when weighing the spoon.. including the spoon

On the side of your tub will be what protein content is contained in a scoop. Work out how many scoops you will require for about 30g of protein. Mix to taste. I generally would use about a quarter of the average mixer bottle so thats about -10 fluid ounces. Whether it is milk or water is up to you. Some people swear by milk, if i mixed mine with milk i would swear then vomit ( lactose intolerant) . Just try what works for you.

It's protein, don't worry, if you do get the runs, lower the amount or find another product that doesn't cause the same problems. I have been through a fair few by now from hideous stuff by peak performance (never take that stuff) to a few different brands depending on what time of the season it was.

Protein doesnt cause the runs mate... it blocks you up !

As for the weights I've been doing well I think

Gone from being able to do two sets of 5 to do 7 sets of 5 over 2 months... I'm not listing the weights or the exercise.. but I need to drop the sets and increase the weight now I'm taking the extra protein to bulk up !

It might block you up, but usually an upset stomach caused by taking low grade protein gives me the runs. You clearly know it all about protein, but hey i wasn't the one asking for advice.

From the regime you are currently on, high reps, guessing lower weights, is now the right time to bulk up on protein?

Surely it would be better to wait until you are actually in a routine of heavy weights and building bulk before loading up?

Just an opinion of course, but its what I used to do. No point in filling your body with stuff that its not using.

Why don`t you just get one of those plastic 6 packs from a fancy dress shop and stick it on, its a lot less hassle and far cheaper.

Ive got the full works, a plastic 6 pack and 10 inch rubber **** and it only cost me a couple of quid.

Snazy mate, I'm starting to introduce it slowly into my diet as I increase the weights... all part of my master plan

lol sounds like a pair of biatches on juice, calm down ladies lol
To much testosterone in this thread

Pimmo, sounds like a plan if you are introducing it at a good rate. Are there no people at the gym to advise. What sort of gains are you going for? Weight and mass wise.
Might be worth while just keeping a good diet, lots of natural protein, and the required exercise.
