Whats the DVLA site where you can trace a reg number!!!!
Basicly I was hit today by a guy in a Peugeot 306 and the git failed to stop.

There's a search facility to give you the model, make and color of a car by it's registration number, but it does not give you the address of the registered owner, for obvious privacy reasons.
Have you reported it to the police? If not then I'd do so, give them the reg number and they should be able to track them down.
