Plenty of banks offering c.6.5%, lahough given the new standing of some of them I wouldn't go greater than £35k.

I agree, I do not have more than £35k in any one institution ..... too risky at the moment.

But, pop £2500 into this account ..... open another few with whatever they require and move the min. amount to pay in around them by standing order, 8.5% is hard to beat.

why not just use a hedge fund few of them with pretty consistent returns of 16 percent and provided you manage your cgt allowance well, no tax to pay on it at all.

8.5% on £2500 is fantastic, hardly a crock.

Open an account for partner + kids and you could have £10,000 returning 8.5% ...... risk free.

I don't see how it can be beaten myself - treat it as part of a portfolio and enjoy the extra!

it's not worth the grief pete - you can easily get 6% on much larger amounts. for the sake of 63 quid extra interest (less tax) it's really not worth the effort of opening a bank account with them. That, and they won't maintain the rate for long - it's the classic Halifax scam to lure the gullible in - the number that are too apathetic to move again pay for those than they lose.

I thought you were a very wealthy man with 16k a month coming in in rent? surprised you're always posting such penny pinching ideas when you could be using your capital much more profitably.....

No-one who really had a decent amount of money would post up these half baked ideas to save a few quid here and there.

Just one more lie to add to all the others.

My personal favourite was when he used to pretend to be 78 and then blurted out that his dad had been test driving new cars!
