Problems with the TV
We have a Samsung TV with the built in freeview, over the last couple of days it has been getting worse with it unwatchable today
There is a blocky effect and it keeps freezing
The sound is also terrible with clicking noises when it pauses.
Does this sound like the freeview pieced of the TV?
It is less than a year old so I'm assuming if there is a prob it will be down to the shop that supplied it to repair/replace
Another question, if it does need to be replaced, do shops give you the opportunity to pay extra to upgrade the TV?

I am no expert and ours sometimes does similar things although our freeview is not combined I would guess you need a booster for the aerial thats all ours works fine with one.

I've got a Samsung TV with a built-in freeview tuner and occassionally it stutters and the sound clicks. I've put it down to using the standard aerial and not having it upgraded to a proper digital one.
If it's only just started doing it then you might want to check your aerial is still attached to the roof. Clutching at straws though. Maybe you've got a booster in the loft that's died or something. It might pass the signal through but not boost it anymore.
Only thing I can think of.

Definitely sounds like signal quality.
Assuming your talking about one of the Samsung LCD panels, select a channel with poor quality.
Select “D menu” and go to “system”, then select “signal information|”
You can then see your bit error level and signal strength.
Bit error level needs to be as close to zero as possible and signal strength as high as possible.

It seems a common problem with freeview. I have upgraded TV, aerial etc & it still occasionally freezes. Maybe due to the switchover occuring, I don`t know TBH. but its very annoying at times though

Our Sony Freeview box occasionally went all blocky, sometimes one MUX was unavailable while others were perfect.
Eventually narrowed it down to the SCART lead working loose. Don't know if you're using SCART but if you are make sure that they are pressed firmly home. The cable is so big and stiff that it seems to work loose of its own accord.

It's a signal strength thing. However the current signal strength is low as the power at the transmitter is split between digital and analog transmissions. when they turn off the analog the digital signal will improve. (so 'they' say)

I fear we will instead use that extra bandwidth for shopping channels, poker channels and all sorts of other rubbish. I think the extra revenue will prove just too tempting.
