Any good hotels / in / near Helensburgh ?
Might be having a weekend away soon, 
can anyone reccomend any good hotels north of the border? nr locj lomond would be nice
not to expensive, as its on a budget (mine
)

Hmmm good few b&b's in Stirling/Bridge of Allan. Castle is lovely and there are plenty of pubs in town too. Nice looking place. Also not that far from Loch Lomond and a nice drive to get there.

Yeah if you could push the budget out a little bit i would recommend The Lake Hotel at Lake of Mentieth (only lake in Scotland
) Its a stunning area and half an hours drive from Loch Lomond. Oh and its far nicer than Helensburgh

I was brought up there. Helensburgh itself, in all honesty, has nothing. Well, there's the Commodore Hotel, which is now like a brewers fare with rooms.
You could try the Rosslea Hall Hotel in Rhu, although its been a while since I lived there it used to be nice. It has a lovely location 4 miles west of Helensburgh on the edge of the Gareloch.
Classic Britain - Scottish Attractions - Rosslea Hall Hotel, Helensburgh
The only other places worth staying are the lodge on the loch in Luss
Hotels in Scotland, luxury hotel accommodations Loch Lomond near Glasgow Glasgow Airport Scotland hotel
or Cameron House
Cameron House, Hotel & Spa, Loch Lomond, Dunbartonshire
Both of which are only 10 minutes from Helensburgh and on the banks of Loch Lomond.
