Default Universal TV Wall mounting brackets Vs Samsung one

Will be mouting the TV on the wall soon and have been looking at brackets for doing the job with, the Samsung ones are quite expensive. So was looking quickly at the universal ones, which seem really cheap, but claim to be up to the job.

The TV is not a huge one 34inch, so weight is not too much of an issue.

has anyone had any experience with these, is it better to bite the bullet with the dear one or will the cheap ones do?

Cheers

Hey,

I got a tilting universal one from Amazon for about £20 IIRC and my 42" plasma has been on the wall for over 6 months and shows no signs of coming away!

I'm not paying god knows how much for one that does exactly the same thing!!

We've just bought a universal tilting one from an Ebay shop. It's a very substantial bit of kit and cost under £30

We manufacture many of the brackets that you see for sale on ebay and amazon- be careful of the chinese rubbish as the failure rate is quite high. Also, with samsung, make sure that the mounting holes aren't in line with the scart socket as if they are none of the universals will work.

Hope this helps.

Also to add another question, the bracket/TV is to be mounted on a stud wall, will this be OK for the weight?

There's no way i'd put it on a stud wall without re-enforcing it or screwing into the joists/noggins.

We have, from memory, 19 different mounting points on ours- so they can be safely mounted on stud walls.

As Gaz says, you need to pick up as many 'solid' points as poss- so arrange it so you have at least one straight edge across the studding.

The bigger the back plate the better so it spans the 'cavities' in the stud wall.

If you're not 100% confident about putting it up yourself then get a competent DIY'er to do it. You don't want it falling down.....

I reckon I have it covered, If I just make the hole for the cables to slot through , roughly in the middle of where the TV goes, I should be able to guage where the solid fixing point will be
