Default Meetings at work first thing in the morning - are you any good?

If you are summoned to a early morning meeting can you make good decisions or do you find that you are crap and cannot contribute as effectively as you can later in the day?

I'm really bad. Often following an early meeting, by the time I have woken up I realise I have made bad judgements or said the wrong thing earlier on..

I always try and keep meetings out of my diary until around 10am - after a few coffees!

Anyone else like this?

i'm normally best between from 8am-midday. The blast to work in the scoob and a coffee helps

Afternoons are a different matter - i want to snooze after lunch every day.

I'm better in the morning (never used to be though!) - although out of principle, I refuse to do early meetings (ie prior to work). I already have to rush to get to work on time after dropping the kids off at the child-minders. If my opinion is THAT valued, I'm sure they can re-schedule

I have to do 6:30am operational brief.....followed by a 9am management meeting discussing the day before & the day ahead, then a 12:30pm operational update then a 3:30pm operational update......then de-brief at 5:30pm....and re-brief for the night shift at 6pm......

Any time I go for a meeting I fall asleep - morning or afternoon. Listening to network architects has that affect.

I've spent my life working with Americans in America so I'm always better in the UK afternoon and evening.

I've recently just been doing EMEA and having early (as in pre-noon! ) conference calls and I'm really not with it at all.

Try going in at 0600 for briefings and planning for a take off at 0800 for a 5 hour trip at high and low level, with practice bombimg and simulated defence against fighter attacks!

Don't get in until around 10-10:30am anyway. I try and keep things post-afternoon.

After i've read what i want on SN, checked emails and had some lunch. Then i'm ready for work.

I never arrange a meeting before 10 am Monday or any time after 2 pm Friday.

Apart from that, not really fussed how early.

I'm better between 9am and midday.

Afternoon meetings just send me to sleep.

similar
Usually roll into the office around 10/10:30, coffee, chat about whats going on, read some emails, surf SN etc, make a few phone calls, lunch, quick nap or stroll in the park if its nice, more emails, more pointless surfing, coffee and then its time for home :d

I set meetings for 9am as people are far more pliable at that time in the morning

Don't care when as long as I have prepared and it isnt a project manager enjoying the sound of their own voice for three hours, I like to make up phrases that sound plausible and keep mentioning them and see how long it takes to get and email with the same phrase in.

*writes list of people not to hire*

LOL

I start at 7am so ... by the time anyone with any clout gets in I'm wide awake and ready to take advantage.. I do find that they wait until I've been her a good 8 hours before they ask for my opinion and at that point I couldn't careless !

You have meetings where people make decisions? You do realise that the whole point of holding meetings is to AVOID making decisions, right?
