I'm in my 30 day no quibble return with Amazon. Should I return my HD DVD player and buy a 40Gb PS3?

i wiould be firing it up and enjoying the best HD product you can buy!

Yup - HD -DVD is dead. Universal are likely to defect at the end of the month, followed by paramount and then that will be it.
Not only do you get a very good BluRay Player (with particularly good upscaling) you get a games console thrown in. Job done.

A patient person will buy a player that does both. and costs £200 less 
Or buy a media PC and fit a HD DVD and Blu-ray combo drive which'll do both. Just make sure it has a HDCP graphics card.
