Question

Thinking of taking the other half away for a weekend break, has anyone been or got any tips or recommendations as to which site, UK or Europe

My sisters been to a lot of the UK ones. She really rates Elvenden(?) in Cambs & reckons thats easily the best. It had the best pool and best activities. Elvenden is all undercover aswell (not all of them are) so particularly good for the winter.

She's also been to Sherwood Notts and Longleat. She's been to an Oasis aswell in the Lake District(sim to centre parcs)which she reckons is naff.

Thumbs up

I've been to Elveden Forest (Suffolk) Centre Parcs, it's quite nice for a weekend break.

I went to Longleat circa 1997. Was a very good long weekend, although it's probably a bit different now.

I went to Oasis in the Lake District with a group of friends about 4 years ago and really enjoyed it - mind you it was quite new then so perhaps it's been trashed since then

I've been to Elveden a few times (my girlfriend of the time lived in Brandon and worked at CenterPacs).

I was surprised how little is included in the booking price.. It seemed that on rainy days you had to wait hours to get a badminton/squash court and then had to PAY !! Yikes ! I'd have thought things like that would be included in the considerable price..

I've been to Elveden twice and Oasis once. BTW Oasis is now owned by Centerparcs. Great for kids but expensive if you want to make full use of the activities. The swimming pool (slides, outdoor bits, hot tubs etc) is free and great fun but cos it's free it gets v busy. There are loads of other things to do, a lot of them outdoors so dependent on the weather, but the costs soon mount up. Eating at the restaurants is relatively expensive as well.

Stayed in the two story exec apartments in Longleat. They are very nice. Downstairs is kitchen, lounge/diner and a balcony, upstairs is big bed room with ensuite, big separate shower room, balcony with a sauna.
Last time we went it snowed (ah how romantic) nice to be in a sauna with it snowing outside
The apartments are right next to the main area where all the restaurants are as well, didn't need a bike...

Went to Elvedon as well, it is all a bit more central there with the food and sports all being near each other.

I preferred Longleat.

I've been to Longleat three times, and I think it is considered to be the best. I'm sure it is the biggest!

Whatever, I've enjoyed it everytime (especially the massages! )

Cheers
