I hate that place

Got A Super Audio CD player for £199 cost £550 normally, fecking brilliant sound, went back a week later for Mission M74 £219, they are bi-wireable, better than my old Mission Freedoms which im now running paralell.
lastly bought a nakamichi DR8 cassette deck for £199, normally £750.00 (some shops are still trying to sell these for £699 on the net) best tape deck ive ever had, almost CD quality.

Ended up buy Cambridge Audio reference phono leads at £35 a pair for both and 10M of bi-wireable speaker cable at £5 a M

Thats why I hate them they skint me out and all that money could have been saved for a MY01, ah well u only live once and now ive got the best Hi Fi ive ever heard.

Ive been buying from them for 15 years now and ive never had anything breakdown, Top Shop excuse the pun when I was in there getting the Nakamichi some guy brough a DVD player back and it was 3 months old and faulty, all he did was show his reciept and exchnaged for a new one, not bad service i think youll agree.

In answer to your question Mission are the daddys in my opinion so clear you can hear everything I bought my Freedoms in 1988 for £700!! and still dont regret it. suggest you pay an extra £20 for the M74's build quality is the best of any speakers ive ever had.

As you can tell from this rant i love em!!

ENJOY (

Agree with FM

I went in for a surround amp and spent 1200 quid !! Make sure you listen to Mordaunt Short 905s. They kick.

The shops cant match the prices of the web site. THey will do it for web site price +10%.

Excellent value...

They do a price match on their internet prices, +10%. Bought a sub-woofer from my local store, £120 in store price but only £70 on their website. £77 paid!

I've got a book written by the owner somewhere at home.

His [own] attitude to customer service is very interesting. If he could bottle it and flog it to other companies, he'd be a very rich man. (Which he is already!)

Never dealt with them [yet] but I know where to go when I need to.

Richer Sounds are superb, never had a problem apart from getting in the shop (small and packed out). Bought all my gear 15 years ago and it all still works, has been passed to my six year old son so I can get new stuff.

Getting some Rega EL8's from a mate for £100, anyone tried these ?. Have a mint pair of Tannoy 607's for sale if anybody is interested !

They are good, recenty got a NAD amp from them, good service and care BUT.

They do sell more of some things than others and this is reflected in what they bulk buy and the price. I got my NAD CD from Audio-T in the sale and it was less than richer sounds list. Also the stock of stuff like NAD is less so less choice.

So still shop around, however they are unlikley to be beaten on most stuff.

While the discount is impressive, for an extra £30 Richer are selling M74s which (to me) look a better speaker.

773e:

2 Way Reflex
Frequency Response 50Hz-20kHz
Sensitivity 88 dB
Cross-Over Frequency 3 kHz
Volume 22 Litres
Impedance 8 Ohms
Recommended Amplifier 25 - 130 W/Ch

M74:

2-Way Reflex Loaded
Frequency Response ± 3 dB 44Hz to 20kHz
Sensitivity SPL/m/2.83V 91 dB
Cross-Over Frequency 2.9 kHz
Effective Volume 40.5 Litres
Nominal Impedance 8 Ohm compatible (min. 4.8 Ohms)
Recommended amplifier power 25 - 150 W/Ch

Look nicer, too.

Other great thing about Richer Sounds is their warranty scheme, which only costs around £20 per item (depends on value) for 3 years, and if you don't claim in that time you get the £20 back. Plus it guarantees a trade-in price on the kit of typically 50%.

So I can take back a 3 year old amp I've got, cash in the guarantee on that and another couple of bits of kit that I'm happy sticking with, and have well over half the dosh towards a nice upgrade amp.

Can't go wrong, if you ask me...

They're good until you have to return something. Don't get me wrong they'll replace your item for you but getting your money back if you've had to replace the item more than once is a night mare. I work 5 mins from the London city store and it is always packed (that's because it's the size of a shoe box.

Have used them a few times - mail order, and have found them to be good if they have stuff in stock, but more often than not, I have found that goods whose advertised price seem too good to be true are out of stock, so they offer you something else instead.

Never had any problems.

I had the 3 year warrenty on a Sherwood AV amp, after 2.5 years it started acting up. Took it back and was told they would be unhappy to repair it and gave me a full refund because it was a dicontinued model. The warrenty cost me £9.95. At the time they were selling Sony STRDB940's with £250 off, so I bought one of those and they gave me a free 3 year warrenty on the new one for my trouble.

Bought loads of stuff for myself and family from them, never had a problem with the goods.
Sometimes you may find that they sell out of the mega deals very fast.

For your amp make sure you get one with Dolby Digital as a minimuim, and if possible DTS, I don't know if the one you have specified does, as I have not been keeping up to date recently, but the fact you mentioned Prologic2 implies that perhaps not. Of course if it has multi-channel input, then you will be fine as long as your DCD player does the DD/DTS decoding.

As a general rule try to get all your speakers from the same brand and preferably range, ensures they sound together as a unit, rather than a disjointed mess.

If you are buying it from one place then get them to throw in some good quality interconnects for you (and be prepared to spend a few quid on speaker cable)
