Thumbs up BBC2 9PM 6th Jan 2008

My cousin is on TV showing the hidden wartime site he found in northern France.

Hope he makes some serious £££ out of this find.

Richard Hammond tells the story of the horrific battle for Omaha Beach during the D-Day landing, and how close the Allies came to disaster.

Which is right after The Best of Top Gear probably a repeat from new years day.

Looks like it'll be worth a watch, and an interesting find for your cousin.

I'm sure he's pleased to have made the find, rather than thinking about the possible financial rewards.

Lets hope he does, and donates a fair proportion to the armed services charities like;
Help for Heroes - A charity for the wounded in Britain’s current conflicts

Watched this, was very interesting - quite mad that so many years later someone can unearth all those defences that people had just forgotten were there !

Bet the Americans werent too happy about the prog though - sort of typical for them in warfare - go running in gung ho with lots of shouting and high fives, but **** it up and cause unneeded loss of life. What did they say the real figure was ? something close to 5000 in 3 hours ?

Had their bombing run been in the right place, then the troops could have strolled up the beach uncontested and most of those kids would have made it back home safely.

Seems their bomber accuaracy hasn't improved much in 60 years.

A good programme.

Strange comment given the masses of lost lives associated with the place. I'm sure making some serious cash out of this wasn't the reason he embarked on this project.
