Default Can you apply for a credit card under a different name.

Say for example i wanted a credit card that didnt have my real name on it, is that possible. The only other way i can think of is to get a company credit card with the name of a company.
I dont mind it registered to me, and of course i'd be paying the bills, but i want a different name to my real name, and a different address if thats possible.

banks can and will issue cards with different names to your own but I dont know about a different address.

Is this because you are a secret agent or a tranny (there appears to be a load of "coming out" threads recently)

I think identity theft would be your best option, also has the added benefit of not having to pay the bill

So if i applied for a card at my address with a different name to my own thats legal is it. I dont want to do anything illegal, and as i said, i'd be paying the bill off etc. I just dont want the recipient of the money to know its me.

Should be no problem. I'm sure the credit card company would be happy to do this for you, so you can apply for all sorts under a different name. Rack up thousand of pound of debt, and then not pay. "Can't be me mate, it says Joe Bloggs"

Maybe the Government would be happy to issue you with a Passport under another name too.

ahhh no that would be classed I imagine as fraud. What I meant was if you had a card already in your name, then you could get another card on the same account with a different name (additional cardholder) as the original card holder, you with your original name is liable for the bills

Thers still that question, WHY DO YOU WANT TO DO IT ANYWAY?

If you want to use a card and pay it off, whats wrong with it being in your name.

If its cos you don't want the wife to know, just ask for a paperless account and do all on line.

Whilst you are free to be known by any name, you could end up being charged with obtaining services by deception. This is a forum, so other answers will vary.....

If you don't want the person to know where the money is coming from send them a postal order.

Your name isn't on that.

With a postal order you can name who you want to cash it. Without ID that person won't be able to cash it, so it's safer than cash.

Sounds good. If you buy onlne then how do you deal with the bit where it asks for your name and address details?

Not sure about the pre-pay credit cards but for a normal card, I'd expect the card company to credit check the person applying. If they don't exist, I would have thought that would alarm them.

FWIW, the company credit cards I've had have both the company name and the person it's issue to on the card.

Couldn't you just get somebody to pay on their card?

Agreed, using a different name is a non starter i think.

On the pre paid, anyone recommend a decent company to get one from?
