The Times article makes for an eye opening read. Good old Brundle saying how things really are. No wonder the FIA are trying to get him banned from commenting on what they do. Issuing a writ against him is just an act of bitterness. Somehow the FIA feel they can, and ought to do whatever they want.

Petition signed.

While I am no fan of the incredibly arrogant Max Mosely and the inexplicable foot-shooting decisions of the FIA, a petition won't change anything. F1 needs to change, and it will. The FIA will evolve in its own unique and stumbling way, or the manufactures' potential rival series will become a reality but I'm far from convinced that will be any better - there's just too much money and politics in F1 today. It ceased to be a true sport, by my definition, a long time ago.

And what would you have the FIA do about Renault? Compound their stupidity with another $100m fine, give the money back to McLaren, or try to draw a line under all this nonsense and look forward to 2008?

Richard.

"And what would you have the FIA do about Renault? Compound their stupidity with another $100m fine, give the money back to McLaren" YES & YES

"draw a line under all this nonsense and look forward to 2008?"

Hard to look forward to it, in fact I’m so fed up with all the blatant corruption backstabbing and bull**** that goes on I don’t think I could stand to watch it next season.

It's interesting that, given his father, Oswald Mosley was a fascist, you'd have thought Max would have supported Mercedes Benz. But then again, as his father and mother were interned by the Brits during the war and as Mussolini was a fascist too, perhaps therein lies the preference for Ferrari.

Maybe they should havegiven the McLaren decision proper consideration when they made it. I.E.
"We know that every team spies on every other team - if we try to punsih McLaren unnecessarily now we will end up looking stupid when someone else gets caught"

Once it became known that Renault has McLaren data, the was no decision that the FIA could make that didn't make them look stupid

Well put FB. Which is why the FIA will have to do some serious thinking about how F1 actually is. And that will not change, so the FIA must come to terms with it.

Max M offered his resignation a little while ago knowing full well it would be rejected. I doubt that he'll dare do that again

Richard.

PS Do you think Martin Brundle will be able to snare Max into comment on one of his grid walks? I hope it's one of his New Year Resolutions

the more who sign, the more pressure that can be placed on them.

Its a sorry state of affairs when they are so powerful they can ban the journos who are fairly reporting on what is going on.

I can't stand Mosley - I like the BBC 606 poster who called him Mac Mussolini.

Anyway, I will sign this petition. IMO he is bringing F1 (Ferrari 1?!) into disrepute.

And I loved Brundles quote: "Or they will write to ITV again to say that my commentary is not up to standard despite my unprecedented six Royal Television Society Awards for sports broadcasting. So be it"

FIA hates Ron Dennis, its just as simple as that. Ferrari sit on the board, McLaren are the only team that are likely to compete against them. So Ferrari take them out before the season even starts.

Even if they are allowed to race, without further fine or negative points, they still have lost a lot of focus on making the car as fast as possible. Just imagine all the extra time and effort needed to make sure its not like the Ferrari.

I wonder how much McLaren know how will be leaked back to Ferrari during this process

tbh i think perhaps mclaren should get out and find another sport, mmmm anyone wanna take a photoshop at a SLR rally car? lol
joking aside i think mclaren is the kinda company that can move into any form of motorsport and afetr a few seasons to get into it do very well.

F1 seems to be loosing alot of its credability and also its appeal to alot of people, the rules are to tight, there so complex it comes down to how you interpret them.

Perhaps its time to say right, the rules are, there are no rules, well not death race style lol, but no rules as far as what the cars can and can't be except do away with launch control, traction control and ABS, sort the men from the boys. Remove restrictions on the aero dynamics, gearbox's etc etc, but perhaps say it has to be a none turbo 5L engine, and thats it.

Bring back the inavative, hard faught racing that people used to love watching, isntead of it being a technical excersize.

a case in point

YouTube - Formula 1 Battle

and prob the ultimate racing bit in F1 history? even clarkson commentating lol

YouTube - Greatest Duel Villneuve vs. Arnoux '79 French Grand Prix F1

highlight of this years

YouTube - F1 Season 2007

zzzzz zzzzzz, o sorry fell asleep watching that
