De-mist your windows please guys
Tragically a family friend was killed a few nights ago, he was riding home from work on his motorbike when someone pulled out of a junction just as he got there The car driver's windows were misted up and they had no clear vision.
I know we all do this to some extent and at some point, makes you think though. Maybe we all spend a few mins more letting the heaters warm up and fully demist the windows and a father of three would still be here for christmas

Very sad and tragic story.
I could have been killed by someone with misted up windows, i was in my scoob at the time and the driver literally took the side off of the car, if i had been 50 yds further down the road he would have hit me head on!
As itr is i have a damages sciatic(sp) knerve that plays me up from time to time, it could have been a lot worse and all because someone did not take the small ammount of thought time and care to clear their windscreen.
TBH you have to be stupid and irresponsible not to clear the front/side windows of a car before pulling away or not pull over the instant it starts to mist up - no brainer!

Sorry to hear you're news, thats terrible.
I have to say I never go anywhere with misted windows for just that reason. During the winter you see so many clowns out with no vision, windows iced up etc.
At the start of most journies I flip the direction dial to screen, and let the AC do its thing, then put it back on auto and leave the AC running, keeps the windows clear. So definatly agree with the above.

Sorry to hear of your bad news Paul
Another one is the amount of dust people let build up inside the screen. With the low sun in winter as soon as its head on total vision is lost

V sad. I'm a bit **** about clear windows, I even use my ice scraper to clear the residue from the outside. A/C works great, as above.
I must admit I nearly overshot a red light last night, stopped on the line, but had to brake hard. As I did so, a biker rode past. They always look so vulnerable.

Terrible thing to happen.
It's quite simple rule really; don't drive if you can't see.
It's the reason why I had the tints took off my side windows, as in the dark/dusk/dawn they were lethal.

You could apply that logic to why own a performance car when the speed limit is 30mph in most places with a maximum of 70
You have so much more freedom on a motorbike, its just sad that most accidents involving bikes are caused by car drivers.

I'm a nervous biker, I'll admit to that.
Put it this way, whenever I'm approaching a junction with a car/truck/bus waiting to pull out, I'm already on the brakes - even though I have right of way.
I just can't trust them.
The time I'll get killed by another road user that "didn't see me" will be the the time I get complaicent and put too much faith in other road user's observation/abilities

Nervous biker? - I have very little faith in other people's driving abilities even though I'm in a car due to a crash a few years back. We nearly got hit by a Saab head just last weekend, on on our side of straight road in a very built up area and he was going considerably more than 30mph -broad daylight in the middle of the day!

Also, when the temp is under about 1c don't forget that if you squirt your washers the water will pretty much always spontaneously freeze if the screen is still cold.
Really annoys me when I see people driving with misted up windows, I just wait until its clear, or those that clear a square foot of snow and then drive off with 2 tonnes on the roof, cos it wont slide down will it !

Or on a push bike or as a pedestrian or in a small car etc etc. If this thread has made even a few ignorant drivers think about the others who 'share' our roads then we need say no more.

A lass who used to stay in my old street just scraped a small view hole in her windscreen and drove happily to work with every other window in the car covered with frost
I don't set off till all my windows are clear, even if it makes me 10 mins late for work
Sorry to hear about your friend POC

Warm water over the windows clears the ice. Just use the wipers to clear the excess from the screen thus having it NOT freeze over again. Clear all mist and also wipe off the dew on the windows, sides as well as front/back. Easy peasy to do ...
