I don't want to know your budget Marshall, here is a good place for televisions
so here is the link : Electrical Appliances & Goods ( located in and around Stoke-On-Trent ) or go to
Welcome to Crampton & Moore online store - - Crampton & Moore (TV) Ltd

The Panasonic THPZ700 either 42 inch or 50 inch is a good buy.
Also come with surround sound or £150 off any dvd recorder or home cinema at Hylands.

Nathan.

I have a Viera and disagree, the Pioneer does top it, although the Panny is right behind it....

Well - I agreed with "Which" which was the Panny [Granted it was a year ago, I still have Zero bad pixels and a 10,000 : 1 contrast ratio]

~Too be honest I didn't even look at the pioneers cos they didn't figure at the time.

I'm toying with the idea of upgrading to SKY HD B4 Xmas

All I can say is that, for my eyes + specs, running an HD DVD thru Xbox and HDMI Cable to the panny - then running same STD DVD thru upscaling DV79 was a close-ish thing. Compared to running through a scart both were miles ahead.

I'm happy with my set up for the ££ it has cost.

If the pictures don't make me happy - the soundfield does

(B&W XT Range)

Jods can your DV79 play blue ray discs ?. Although not many memorable films out at the moment. Them prices don't condone a good film.

Nah - DV79 only plays std DVD's / CD's

BUT

It does it exquisitely

Imagine the difference between listening to a CD thru some poxy 79p earphones from tesco's vs some sennheisers etc

I'm a great believer in buying something that is specifically designed to do the job, and do it well.

Otherway around mate, my plasma is great with the 360, the LCD's are the ones that cant keep up as the refresh rates aint as good although theyve probably about caught up now but I still dont like the colouring on an LCD, find it too bright and unrealistic, ruins alot of the picture for me. Bigger the picture then Plasma walks the decision IMO.

If you want the very best picture quality, then LG blows the rest away - use your own eyes in choosing, not the journalists who are given gifts and plush hotel rooms to give a glowing article.

I would warn strongly against buying at CURRYS, DIXONS, or PC World ... their customer service is the worst I have ever come across. see here:-

https://www.scoobynet.com/non-scooby...come-good.html

Also, ask for the 'Pixel Policy' of the Manufacturer when you buy - it is important to look to a manufacturer who will replace for a single pixel fault (as some now do).

Tosh.. LCD has much better picture definition than a Plasma could ever have.. Why do you think they dont use Plasma for PC displays

What you will find is because the Plasma naturally interlaces the image slightly the image looks 'smoother' to your eyes.. If you watch a movie with lots of CGI on a high quality LCD tv it looks fake as hell because the picture is so good

Its all down to personal preference really, some people still prefer CRT TV's because the resolution is so poor and its softer on the eyes.

My parents bought a 42" LG 2 months ago.. The picture quality sucks! I've got a 5 year old Philips Plasma and a Philips LCD that both have much better picture definition.
