Quick Q on connecting up a Subwoofer.
What’s the best way of connecting the sub (as picture) to a surround sound amp, which only has a single high level (speaker level) sub woofer +/- connection.
Cheers

Did try that but it didn't sound right.
Instructions for the amp assume your using the original non active sub, (which I'm not).
The instructions for the active sub as above, say either use the RCA connection (which I don't have on the amp), or connect the front speakers to the high level inputs. If I do that where do I connect the front speakers to ?

You know, I have looked at that picture, then looked at my own sub. I have come to the conclusion that I just got lucky when mine worked
Still, at least you got a free bump

You connect the front speakers in parallel, which is fine if it's a Dolby Surround amp, but if it's Dolby Digital 5.1 then it outputs a separate signal for the sub.
In what way does it not sound right ?

Thanks Alistair, it's dolby digital so has a single sub out (speaker level).
The bass is very muted and wooly, I'll have another play tonight at least I know I'm basically connecting it up right.

It looks like you've turned the low pass filter right down to 50Hz. If it's a sub output you're using, it already has the high frequencies cut out and you should put it to 100Hz.

Try connecting positive on the right speaker and negative on the left speaker to get the most out of it unless you have a switch to make it single channel. If the Bass doesnt sound right, try adjusting the low pass filter

Ehh? Is a 100w ACTIVE sub. Just connect one phono from your surround amp sub output [line level] to the red 'sub input' phono connector? LP filter set to 100Hz to try and then plug it into the mains?
If you dont have a 'sub out' on yer amp (i.e it is NOT a 5.1 amp) then you could try using one leg of the 'tape deck out' phono connectors as this routes whatever the amp's input is to an output.

Diesel, it's 5.1 but only with speaker level sub out.
I've had another play now, I think I've got it correctly connected I just need to play with the settings. Basically this is a cheap ebay amp which I bought for a second room, unfortunately it didn't come with a remote.
Anybody got a RM-STHP7R going spare for a JVC XV-THP3
