Long weekend in New York staying at the Ritz on central park (took Mrs there for our wedding aniversary this year). Just around the corner from Tiffany & co. on 5th ave.

* Be sure to tell guest relations it's your wedding aniversary - rose petals on the bed & bottle of champers on ice. Their present to you!

Might be a bit chilly in January though

If you are staying in the UK then the ''Stoke Park Club'' in Slough is lovely.

Just done 2 nights there and the Mrs loved it, the rooms are fantastic and the service is 2nd to none.

I played Golf she got pampered at the health club, good compromise. The restuarants are great, i even got a private dinner room to ourselves, amazing.

It can be expensive but as they are a client of mine discounts apply but hey you cant put a price on happiness with the one you love.

Slough is not exactly the most glitzy place in the world to take your mrs though is it? Im sure the hotel was nice etc but if someone told me they were taking me to Slough I wouldnt be too impressed.

Are we talking local, within the UK or abroad? Isolated romantic retreat or activity filled getaway?

Dont say Slough say 'Stoke Poges' as thats where it really is.

Its in the country enough to fool most women and the Stoke Park estate is stunning.

10 Years you say!

..... right then:

1. Any local travel lodge will do.
2. A meal in Britains finest cafe "Le Little Chef".
3. Followed by 8 seconds of love making (back at the motel).
4. Checkout and return home.

..... then with the money saved:

1. Go and treat yourself to a new xbox 360 or similar

Let's face it 10 years with the same bird.... you deserve a nice treat!

Le Manoir is also very very nice, they are also a client of mine.

The Manager over there Gurvall is a really nice guy, French, but still a decent guy.

The rooms there start at £550 then go up to £1200 per night, rates can be arranged, the major cost there though is the food.

Raymond Blanc is in the kitchen most nights and you are looking at £300-£400 with a decent bottle of wine thrown in for a meal for 2 people.

You also get to sit and eat with most of the Chelsea first team.

The Coltswolds this time of year are stunning. Lower Slaughter Manor is a good hotel, in the heart of the Coltswolds, about 30 miles from Bicester shopping village for some quality retail therapy.

Go for the Four Seasons Hampshire. IMHO

Rooms are stunning, and staff are brilliant.

Plenty to do, they have their own world class spa and a massive pool, they also have a massive outdoor jacuzzi which you can sit in upto about 10pm drinking etc. There is a nice little cafe next to the pool area too. The changing rooms for the pool are amazing, 3 types of showers... !!

The hotel also has its own stables and horses which you can hire out for a few hours and go on a treck. There is also a couple of really nice walks, both take a few hours. You can also hire the hotels canal boat, but never done this so cant say how good it is. You can also book a couple of hours shooting, they have a local guy who is very good for novice shooters. In most cases the fee for all the activities includes clothing, boots etc.

Food is good, even in room dining. The breakfast is something else too, but make sure you go for B&B as its about £40 each to add brecki on and its cheaper to get it in from the start.

There is also good IT facilities, there are 3 private offices with PC / fax / phone etc and you can just wander in and use it as you want.

However, dont expect a cheap weekend, the room will cost c.£350 B&B and you will easily spend the same again each day on food and entertainment.

BUT its worth it, I have been a few times for special occasions and its by far the best country hotel I have stayed in. Makes all others look a bit toy town. You can also drool over the exotica parked out front, F430s, DB9s etc are all regulars. Quite a few guests arrive by helicopter too...

A tip from me is to look around at dates, some weekends you might save £50 - £70 on the room rate. Also once you have stayed there you will get a 3 for 2 nights voucher in the post for your next stay.. well worth it.

And if you are feeling extra nice you can take her into the 4 seasons shop that sells watches and all sorts of shiny stuff for girls... just have your credit card to hand!! IIRC they had a watch that was £80k last time I was there....

Forgot to mention, for love birds they have a special half day spa treatment, it really is something else and after a few hours of treatments they leave you alone in your own private relaxation room... Have to book that in advance though.
