its not exactly a great price you can get them cheaper closer to 500 if you are willing to search, have sold finlux tv's lcd/plasma and have to say they are 100% fantastic for the money. They aren't gonna win any awards picture quality wise but they put alot of more expensive screens to shame.

They are made by a company call vestal who incidently make LCD screens for alot of other manufactures(and i'm not talking crappy manufacturers either) which ironically look and perform exactly the same (Mmmh maybe because they are the exact same screens)

Finlux CRTs were very high quality kit back in the day. The firm went bust in 2005 and was taken over by Vestel to manufacture flat panel TVs.

Similar to a Samsung but Samsung don't do a 42" LCD
40" or 46" would be the nearest also the Sammy has 3 x HDMi

True - but there is more to it than just the panel. It's what goes into the electronics/hardware side of things that make the difference.

This is a much better choice:
SAMSUNG LE40R88BD 40" HD Ready digital LCD TV - Cheap SAMSUNG LCD TVs, Plasma TVs and HD Ready Flat Panel TVs

Can be found cheaper if you shop around.

Finlux one does look interesting at that price point though.... Was going to wait for a good OLED... but that may fill the gap for the time being.

Finlux is 2" larger, and has twice as many pixels... and for that price is a bit of a bargain.

Still can't stop looking at the 63" Samsung as you walk in the door of every Costco though... Now THAT is a TV!

Hmmm...yes... hadn't spotted that one! Does look very good indeed T5OLF...
Viewing SN on a Samsung monitor so I know the panels are superb.

15000:1 contrast, a little improved over the 500:1 on the Finlux.

I think I'll sit it out still, continue with my £2K Panasonic CRT and wait for the OLEDs (at the right price!) that'll blow the plasma and LCD market to pieces.

I can't wait that long and I heard they were struggling with the blue LED's life span compared to the red and green.

I will be buying mine in a month or 2 and have got it down to 2, the 40 samsung or the sony Bravia KDL-40W3000.

I think, IIRC, that it's in a "Home Cinema" package - with DVD player, amp, speakers, etc.... at about the £3K mark.

....not THAT expensive.

Get down to Costco - walk straight in the door and you'll fall over it - or rather smack your head into it...

Samsung M panel (T5OLF) apparently WAY better than the R panel mentioned above. I debate that the difference btwn 40-42in is noticeable.

Thats what I've got

Also got Samsungs DVD1080P upscaling DVD player as well

Bought off t'net, for both items and a decent HDMI cable the lot cost me £850 and was delivered the next day.

Very happy with my purchase

Far to many Samsung panels out there, keep getting confused with them all. They have one that they only supply to Dixons or currys. I popped into the Sony shop today and looked at a few, I would like the W3000 but it's a tad pricey so it's looking like the V3000 at 1399 inc a PS3 or blueray player and 5 year cover. Not a bad price I thought.
