You will probably find that he has a fairly pragmatic approach to driving and speed limits as almost all Traffic cops I have spoken to, possess (I am of course assuming he was traffic hence his position).
It's the Government guided by these idiot led Scamera Partnerships that force the policy on speeding and proliferate the 'Speed Kills' crap.
Most traffic cops would much prefer to see more patrols than more cameras.
Back to the OP - SMASH HIM IN!

Love this comment too:
"Chief Constable Med Hughes has received a notice of intended prosecution in respect of an alleged driving offence in north Wales in the early morning of a Bank Holiday Monday in May while he was on holiday"
So I'm guessing that as it was done in May, and he's only just got the NIP then he was driving a company car, ie. the police's car?
I also like the bit "early morning of a Bank Holiday Monday", just getting in that there would probably have been less traffic on the roads etc.

The problem is that they will almost certainly proceed in the correct manner to make sure he gets his points. Then they can stand up and tell us that the policy is working, blah blah and role it out even more.
If he gets off there will be enough of a backlash in the press to help rally the forces against cameras, I doubt they are silly enough to let that happen.
Should he lose his licence, it would only be for a short time of course. He will also get a nice chauffeur no doubt

Allegedly 90mph in a 60mph zone - oops, that's ban territory
Still, according to Brunstrom, drifting over the limit is like drifting a knife into somebody - so HANG the (multiple, serial) murderer!

I hope he gets off, as I would for anyone driving quickly but safely when the roads are quiet. (Not in full possession of the facts, but seems a likely scenario.)
Jerome, I'm not clear where the hypocrisy is? He has been NIPped, despite being a senior police officer.

As a trained police officer in charge of road policing and, therefore, cameras, he wasn't just speeding, he was driving without due care and attention - bigger fine and more points!

Lets keep an eye on this and see what happens.
Should he be treated same as every one else? Or should he be treated more harshly seeing as he is a high ranking bill.

The hypocrisy is that he is not just a Chief Constable, but the one who is in charge of road policing. He, of all people, should know better. He also advocates making speed cameras less visible because drivers are not slowing down.
I would be just as unimpressed if he got caught shoplifting.
If it's unacceptable for the public to speed, he should be setting an example for us all to follow.

In his position as Jerome says, he should be setting the example to us all. His behaviour is the height of hypocrisy given what he has said in the past and consequently his penalty should reflect that.

I say sack him and stop his pension rights etc. Can't stand people like this who preach to others and do precisely the opposite. If he deemed his 'speeding' to be safe for him then it's safe for others unfairly persecuted by the speed kills gestapo.
I hope his defence is that the speed limit was too low for the stretch of road, as seems to be the case on most roads these days with the shrinking speed limit policy most councils have embraced.

He will get off as they will say he has an advanced level of driver skill that allows him to drive at that speed
Just shows we all overstep the mark at some point.

Advanced level my ar*e, he should be treated in the same way as everyone else! And less conspicuous speed cameras? hes having a laugh! i bet if someone followed him home after work he goes over the limit by a few mph on certain roads where there are no cameras like we all do, so a less inconspicuous camera could catch him too! but he would have advanced knowledge of where they are wouldnt he.....................
