Compilations dont count

1:Muse - Origin of symmetry
2:Charlatans - Wonderland
3:The Dandy Warhols - 13 Tales From Urban Bohemia
4:Pink Floyd - Echoes
5:Turin Brakes - Optimist

Biggest let down Ian Brown - Music of the Spheres

All in a pretty mediocre year for Albums IMHO

Really poor year for music personally . A great deal of disappointmnet such as albums by Muse and Fear factory that I felt were blow par and I can' think of any truly good albums from 2001but saw some great bands such as Queen Adreena, Dandy Wharhols, VNV Nation , Wonder Stuff. 2000 was a much better year with stacks of good stuff.

Not much new inovative stuff. Really looking forward to the new VNV Nation Album

Exclamation

Apart from revivals......there was as astraboy says, compilations as there wasn't anything that good this year (whoops last year) that really stood out and grabbed you...apart from a few solo's that have only got the occasional song

Nath...still loving the days of the 80's and early 90's

I spent the whole year downloading old stuff from morpheus and burning CD's. So bought no new stuff.

(...I Did enjoy some Destiny's Child videodownloads though...)

Current music scene is very poor if you ask me - we need a new revolution with similar impact to the punk eras in the 70's to sweep away all these dreadful single-sex teen manufactured singing ensembles, and revive creativity and edginess to music again.

Am I alone in thinking the White Stripes were hyped up crap?

I must be getting old but it just sounded a complete racket to me.

Here goes -

1 (by a long way) - Slipknot : Iowa
2 Tool : Lateralus
3 Stone Temple pilots : Shangri La De Da
4 Limp Bizkit : Chocolate Starfish ........
5 Disturbed : Sickness
nothing else really rated

Biggest disappointment - Dave Matthews Band : Everyday
