Region 1 if you have a DTS compatible amp / player.
Region 2 is in DD5.1 format only.
Don't want to start a 5.1/DTS flame war, just *personally* think it sounds better.
R2 is out of stock btw.

OVERALL : R1 - it's the ultimate Shrek package being a 2 disc set and including a DTS soundtrack. The international press release for the R2 says "Custom crafted for the international market place", which sounds like the marketing way of saying "You're not getting as much as we are!".
However, please note that many of the additional features available exclusively on the R1 version are designed for children. If you don't have any children and are buying for yourself then the choices are more even. Your decision ought to be based more on cost.

How about R4 from www.ezydvd.com.au? Usually arrives in a week all the way from Australia, and much cheaper than either R1 or R2. There's the added bonus that Australia uses PAL too, so you get a better picture than you would with R1.

Anyone watched it on a PS2?
My copy had the added bonus of loud buzzing for a couple of seconds every few minutes or so
Not sure whether this copy does it on a 'proper' DVD player....

I watched is on my brother-in-law's PS2 (my DVD) and no problems with sound... played it on my Sony DVD player and again no issues.
Have you checked for any fine scratches... DVDs are far more sensative than CDs.
